The Jets can officially stop worrying about a second Darrelle Revis holdout in three years.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that Revis joined his Jets teammates at their New Jersey headquarters for physicals and conditioning tests on Thursday morning. Recent reports indicated that would be Revis’ ultimate decision, but the final exhalation had to wait until the most important player on the Jets defense actually walked through the doors on time.

Revis’ arrival won’t be the last we hear about his contract situation. Revis is set to make $13.5 million over the next two years, a number he feels is too low and the Jets have a big reason to talk about a new deal as well. They can’t franchise Revis after the 2013 season, which means that they would potentially have to compete with other teams for Revis’ services.

As we mentioned above, Revis is the most important player on the team’s defense so they aren’t likely to risk losing him unless something goes drastically wrong for Revis in the next few months. By reporting, Revis should be taking acrimony out of any conversations on the contract front and that could help pave the way for the resolution he’s been seeking all along.
