Everyone in Detroit and Dallas were excited and loved seeing Barry Sanders and Emmit Smith face off on MNF, way back when. Only a jerk would have been wishing that one or the other got hurt.

It’s not the offseason troubles that scare me so much … I think that once the season starts those things won’t be a distraction. It’s injuries to key players that concern me more. Hopefully the Backus and Leshoure injuries are minor and the rest of the team can stay healthy. If they can, I think this team can be more than just competitive. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Leshoure stayed on the field and Backus came back out of the lock room jogging down the sideline. Neither are long term injuries.

That’s were most would disagree. None of them arrested contributed much last season. Berry was the main reason our secondary was terrible. He’s a number 2 on the lions, and practice squad talent to rest of teams.Culbreath, zero games. Leshoure, zero games. And Fairley was limited in the ten games he was playing in. If you take away all the completions to Johnson, Stafford still has more passing yards than the bears. Plus, stafford separated his shoulder and next play won the game. In a meaningless game. In a playoff game, cutler quit on his team. Lions have better shot at playoffs than bears. As for the packers, well, hopefully self destruction isn’t the name of the game this year.

I’m going to be real surprised if the Lions make the playoffs again this year..lots of off field issues and injuries, outside of the line the D is suspect. Not to mention they play in a division with the Packers and a Bears team that could be good be much better.

Backus (Sackus) gets hated on a lot but smart football fans know he has been a solid player the past decade. He consistently has graded out among the best OTs in the NFC North year in and year out.

He’ll be good to go when the games start. Should he go down. Reiff will pick up the flag.
