APBeyond Stevie Johnson, the Bills don’t have much firepower at receiver. They now could have even less.
David Nelson left practice Saturday after knocking knees with a defender. For now, the team is cautiously optimistic.
“They said it’s like a bruise,” coach Chan Gailey said after practice. “They don’t think it’s any kind of ligaments or anything like that. We’ll see the determination is tomorrow probably.”
Nelson finished second to Johnson with receptions (61) and yards (658) in 2011.
The Bills hosted former Saints receiver Robert Meachem early in free agency, but he signed with the Chargers. Donald Jones is expected to start across from Johnson, but Nelson remains a key piece of the puzzle.

This is Fitzs security blanket. If he goes down, this offense could struggle. He is Buffalos Gronk essentially.
Plaxico or T.O.
Plax was pretty good considering he was rusty. he actually did a lot better than a lot of starters.
he will be fine, only a stinger.
Mr. Slot. A big loss if he’s out for a while.
We need a top WR!
I agree with statements #1 and #2. Number 3 on the other hand tells me you’ve been smoking crack.
hoping for the best give Nelson another year or 2 of experience n this guy will be a legit receiver in the NFL. he got skills keep ur eye on him the next couple years.
Losing Nelson would be terrible, but I don’t think its the end of the season because of it. The Bills have several decent Slot receivers they could plug right in, Naaman Roosevelt is always ready, so is Kamar Aiken and Derek Session who can play slot if needed. TJ Graham was supposed to be a replacement for Roscoe Parrish and Parrish played the Slot for the Bills, maybe Graham could also.
Ej; The same Naamen Roosevelt who’s carrer stats are 25 recs for 396 yrds and 1 td??
