Lebeau is obvious and Belichick, despite putting out AWFUL defenses the past couple years, won his rings with defense (I don’t buy into the thought of cheating being the “only” reason they won) and has been consistently ahead of the curve in terms of utilizing a 4-3 or a 3-4 (always opting for the less popular so as to have a greater number of players to choose from). That is all.

He said best DEFENSIVE coach, not HEAD coach. And Ryan probably is the best DEFENSIVE coach. If not him, than who? Not Belichick after that abomination of a defense he fielded the past could of years, same with Capers. Mike Nolan hasn’t done a thing since leaving Baltimore. Mike Zimmerman is very good, but not in conversation for the best. Chuck Pagano is a one year wonder so far.

IMO that leaves Rex, Wade Phillips and Dick LeBeau. You can argue about who is best, but regardless Rex is most likely an upgrade as a defensive coach on your team.

When mike vrabel left NE he said the BB may not publicly praise anyone but doesn’t publicly criticize a single player either. How his ryan’s honesty going to help kerley? Just unnecessary media pressure not to mention ryan wont say the same thing about Tebow.
