I'm a Jets fan and I love Rex I really do, but there is no way (at this point in his career) that you can HONESTLY say that he is a better defensive coach than Dick Lebeau or even Belichick. Lebeau is obvious and Belichick, despite putting out AWFUL defenses the past couple years, won his rings with defense (I don't buy into the thought of cheating being the "only" reason they won) and has been consistently ahead of the curve in terms of utilizing a 4-3 or a 3-4 (always opting for the less popular so as to have a greater number of players to choose from). That is all.

Ryan is the type of coach a fan loves. Honest about his team to the fans and the media, and confident in his own abilities.

Rex IS the best defensive coach in football. If you disagree you’re an idiot. Or a jills fan.

Rex Ryan is NOT the best defensive coach in the NFL. A good coach doesn’t throw his players under the bus, he does whatever he needs to do to motivate and get the best out of them. Also, if a good Defense brings home championships, well then where are Ryan’s rings? I’m not the only “idiot” as you say that believes this. There are many, many more non-Bills fans that would agree that Ryan is NOT the best Defensive coach, he is all talk, no game.

==================================

He said best DEFENSIVE coach, not HEAD coach. And Ryan probably is the best DEFENSIVE coach. If not him, than who? Not Belichick after that abomination of a defense he fielded the past could of years, same with Capers. Mike Nolan hasn't done a thing since leaving Baltimore. Mike Zimmerman is very good, but not in conversation for the best. Chuck Pagano is a one year wonder so far.

IMO that leaves Rex, Wade Phillips and Dick LeBeau. You can argue about who is best, but regardless Rex is most likely an upgrade as a defensive coach on your team.

Belichick never throws his players individually under the bus. If he is not acting like ryan does mean he isnt being honest to the player if he doesn't media the same.
When mike vrabel left NE he said the BB may not publicly praise anyone but doesn't publicly criticize a single player either. How his ryan's honesty going to help kerley? Just unnecessary media pressure not to mention ryan wont say the same thing about Tebow.
