Free agent fullback Ovie Mughelli has landed with the Rams.

Mughelli, who played the last five seasons for the Falcons, has signed a one-year contract in St. Louis, the Rams announced today.

After a Pro Bowl season in 2010, Mughelli saw his 2011 season cut short after seven games by a torn MCL in his right knee. The Falcons cut Mughelli, who was due to make $3 million on his Falcons contract, in a salary-cap move in May.

If the 32-year-old Mughelli is completely healthy, he can be a good lead blocker and open some holes for Steven Jackson in new Rams coordinator Brian Schottenheimer’s offense.

This may not be a huge signing but it’s a sign Jeff Fisher is building a run first team. Smart coach… his teams are always competitive I’m expecting the Rams to be a very different team than what people expect.I don’t think they will be a playoff team but I could see them hanging in and winning 6 to 7 games

Very bummed to see him leave Atlanta.

Ovie Mughelli got big money from the Bobby Petrino regime and was the best roster move that philanderer made in his short stint. That loser brought in this great bruiser. I’m a poet and I certainly know it.

Wow, he and Jackson are gonna be a lot of runner and blocker to handle if the Rams can keep it close going into the 4th.

not sure if this will really help but we had success with karney in 2010 and I’m really not sure what to think of Britt Miller ik he can catch a little

It’s a good signing assuming his knee is healthy. You may not see him on the field until mid season. We will miss him in Atlanta.
