Free agent fullback Ovie Mughelli has landed with the Rams.
Mughelli, who played the last five seasons for the Falcons, has signed a one-year contract in St. Louis, the Rams announced today.
After a Pro Bowl season in 2010, Mughelli saw his 2011 season cut short after seven games by a torn MCL in his right knee. The Falcons cut Mughelli, who was due to make $3 million on his Falcons contract, in a salary-cap move in May.
If the 32-year-old Mughelli is completely healthy, he can be a good lead blocker and open some holes for Steven Jackson in new Rams coordinator Brian Schottenheimer’s offense.
