APEagles receiver Ron Johnson went down in training camp practice today with a leg injury that was described by those on the scene as nasty.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer called Johnson’s injury “gruesome.” Dave Zangaro of CSNPhilly.com wrote that Johnson’s feet got caught as he went down to the ground hard, and that he suffered what looked like an “ugly” ankle injury. Several people on the scene said it looked like the kind of injury that ends a player’s season.
Johnson’s leg was immobilized and he was carted off the field. Many of his teammates approached him to wish him well as the medical staff took him away.
A 2011 sixth-round draft pick of the 49ers, Johnson was cut by San Francisco just before the start of the regular season last year and picked up by the Eagles. Johnson is the second receiver the Eagles have lost in training camp; Riley Cooper suffered a broken collarbone on Saturday.

I hate to ever see players get injured, but this is bad karma to Michael Vick and his team for making stupid comments about a dynasty.
nothing against ron.. hope he recovers.. but better him than 52 other players i can think of
If they want an 18 game season, they better dump the preseason games for maybe organized 2 team controlled scrimmages or altogether. No team is going 18 w/o serious injuries!!
Oh well…there goes the dynasty.
Cue comments by the Andy Haters, criticizing him for running a camp that’s too tough…
Hello Plax, Andy here. Yo, you may have heard. We are now down two receivers. One is done for the season. Got any plans for 2012? Didn’t think so. How soon can you get here. Oh, you’re already in town. Great!
I guess the bright side is…. he was only going to get paid for the next few weeks. Now he gets paid for the year.
Thats what happens when you leave the 9ers!! jk get well . haha
paging T.O.
At least he has that job selling car stereos at the mall to fall back on.
Dude, we still have a guy named McNutt. After years of labeling McNabb “McNutts,” getting him was a dream come true. I guess it was too much to hope that we’d have a Ron JOHNSON on the same team.
No worries though, I hear Phil McCracken is available.
Hopefully this doesn’t put the Dynasty in jeopardy. They’re going for another Lombardi this year.
damn our secondary is playing real physical im loving it, minus the injuries i still have faith in mcnutt having a good season at #4
I personally think Plax is a good iea. Even if its red zone play only. He still has great hands. Bet ya he has melowed too.
Good thing it’s just the Eagles.
