It was not a good day to be coming off an ACL tear.

After Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas injured his for a third time, Redskins linebacker Jonathan Goff found out he tore his ACL for the second straight year.

Goff missed all of last season with a torn ACL, but had started all 16 games for the Giants in 2010 before signing with the Redskins this offseason.

Redskins coach Mike Shanaham also said guard Kory Lichtensteiger had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, via the Washington Post.

Lichtensteiger tore his right ACL and MCL last year, but Shanahan said this surgery was more to clean out “some particles.”

He was slated to start at left guard, making him the second Redskins starting lineman to miss time. Right tackle Jammal Brown is still out after aggravating a hip injury.

Shanahan said the goal was to have Lichtensteiger back by the regular season opener.
