This may be the best pick in franchise history. Andre Johnson is ahead obviously, but for JJ to dominate as a 3-4 DE in his rookie year was incredible. And let’s not forget the 3.5 sacks he got in 2 games in postseason. That was tied for the most sacks in the entire playoffs of any player.

9 total sacks in 19 games? Let’s pump the brakes on hall of fame talk. Watt is a heck of a player, but he’s got a long long way and a lot more numbers to put up before being route as a future hall of famer.

I don’t know how many of you know of former Bears (and Saints) HOF DE Doug Atkins, but Watt reminds me of him (at least film of him..I’m not that old.) If you’ve never seen him, try and find a way. I promise, you will be impressed.

Watt has a long way to go, though.

I’m not usually a fan of such hyperbole, but I think it’s a fair statement. Watt looks like he’s going to be, to the Texans, what Freeney was for the Colts – a game changer.

That’s obviously over the top but I’m a fan of Watt. As a Niner fan, he reminds me of Justin Smith in a lot of ways. I’m flabbergasted about why Smith just barely started coming up on the national radar this year but people that have watched him for a few years would say that he’s Canton worthy. Houston has a hell of a player there.
