The Associated Press recently has unveiled a groundbreaking, cutting-edge feature to enhance its NFL coverage.

Are you sitting down?

The AP will rank all 32 teams, top to bottom, without regard to division or conference.

The poll will be known as the “Pro32,” a clumsy effort to avoid acknowledging that it’s simply a power ranking. The same kind of power ranking that everyone else currently does -- and has done for years.

So congratulations, AP. And welcome to the 21st Century.
