A crack head wants a cheater on mr Lombardi’s trophy. Hah, he will vault out of his grave and have roger goodell doing Conditioning drills til he pukes and dies, which will take his fat ass 5 minute.

But lets correct the record here. He has won 5 super bowls not 3. he carried Parallels on two SB wins.

He has also appeared in 8 Super Bowls which is pretty amazing.

I do hear the argument that without LT and Brady he would have a lot less SBs but he has been to 8 super Bowls and won 5 that is downright amazing.

I will also give him big credit for his win over the Rams. That was an amazing job. Bu the last few years he has stayed competitive without a defense. I give the man credit he is arguably the greatest football coach of all time. He certainly belongs up there with Lombardi, Halas, Noll, Landry and Walsh.

Either you seriously no nothing about football or your Cowboy homerism has blinded to you. Tom Landry was an innovative coach, but so was Walsh.

Either way I’ll take Walsh’s 3 Super Bowls to Landry’s 2.

When Steve Jobs died people came out of the wordwork declaring him a genius on the level of Einstein and Hawking. Jobs invented NOTHING. He remarketed existing technology. He was innovative, and created over-priced toys for the gullible, but to put him on the same level as Einstein is to insult Einstein.

That the same thing with Walsh. He didn’t create the short passing game. Weak armed QB’s had been using it for years. He had a good scheme with great personnel. Just like the “Greatest Show on Turf”, and the “Run to Daylight” offenses. His success lasted just as long as his personnel did, just like those offenses. That’s hardly innovation.

Landry’s teams appeared in FIVE SBs, losing three by a total of 11 points and all in the last minute of play. Landry changed the game. Walsh took Coryell’s system and had the right personnel.

18 undrafted players on the roster? Great coach, but a rather lousy GM/drafter.

I’d say losing Scott Pioli is the major reason for this. He was the only guy who would challenge BB on FA/draft signings, and they suffered when he left.
I say leave the trophy alone.

What in the world did Walsh revolutionize?? He had a weak armed QB who threw more short passes, and more passes to his running backs. That’s ALL he did.

You want someone who revolutionized the game – Tom Landry INVENTED the middle linebacker position, which everyone uses today. He drafted track stars and basketball players and made them into HoF’s. He invented the multiple set offense which everyone uses today, and re-invented the shotgun formation, that everyone uses today (it was scrapped cuz no one could figure out how to be successful with it).

Landry invented the gap control defense that everyone uses today specifically to stop the “run to daylight” offense of Lombardi’s.

And that’s just for starters.

Of those coaches you listed, only Gibbs has won three SBs with three differeent QBs. All the others developed ONE QB and rode him to all their glory.

If QB is the most important position, then winning multiple SBs with multiple QBs would be the hardest thing to do. Make it the Lombardi-Gibbs trophy. And I’m a DALLAS fan.

Walsh did NOT win 4 SBs with Montana as HC of SF. He won 3 with Montana. Montana won his 4th when George Seifert was HC of the SF49ers. Seifert was also the HC in 1994 when Steve Young was the QB.

Noll won four Super Bowls in six years and Bellichick didn’t.

Walsh also win four Super Bowls with the same QB and one with a different QB. Bellichick didn’t.

Noll and Walsh are unbeaten in Super Bowls (and so is Lombardi, no?), Bellichick isn’t.

Bellichick has never beaten Tom Coughlin.

Bellichick CHEATED to win at least one Super Bowl.

Because of Kharma, BB will likely never win another Super Bowl. Further, watch the dude retire when Brady does!

Sidenote: I love when people say that Belichick would be nothing without Brady. NONE of these coaches would be anything without the great players they coached. How many HOFers are from those Packer, Steeler, and Dolphin teams? Nuf said! Where would Bill Walsh be without Montana? Not in the HOF. That’s for sure.

Belichick is 0-2 in his last two Super Bowl appearances, but those apparently mean nothing to Irvin and most other talking heads who discuss the league. The Patriots had their hey day, and it ended in 2005. Why are we still talking about the Patriots as if they’re still a dynasty?

Probably because they are still one of the elite franchises in the league.
Probably because the “talking heads” don’t let their emotions get in the way.

Using that logic, let’s gush all over the Cowboys even though they haven’t won a championship since 1996. There’s a major difference between a team who remains competitive and a real dynasty. The Patriots were a dynasty; they are not one anymore.

No one is still calling the Patriots a Dynasty. But to say their heyday ended in 2005 in crazy, they just played in another SB.
They have the best record in the league since 2007. And also take into consideration Michael Irvin was talking to someone from the Boston Herald. If he was talking to someone from the NY Times he probably would have said the same thing about Tom Coughlin (maybe).

My point is when all the “talking heads” from all these different sports outlets talk about the Patriots in that way there may be some merit to it. But they also talk the same way every year about the Steelers , Ravens and up until last year the Colts.
