This is just weird. Beasley basically grew up in Dallas, played college football in Dallas, got a chance to play for the Cowboys and now he’s done?

His Twitter feed was all positive too. No hint of this coming.

I watched a lot of his games in college and he certainly showed NFL ability. SMU hasn’t been able to land the 6’3″ WRs in Texas recruiting against the Big 12 schools, but they’ve been producing some pretty good small quick guys for the last few years (look at Emmanuel Sanders).

It’s sad how so many fans are so quick to assume and judge without knowing details or facts why this guy decided to quit football…He could’ve had a tragedy in his family, maybe he spoke to a former nfl player with symptoms after football..or decided to seek another line of work……I know that hulkhogansays is a pure idiot for judging someone he doesn’t know on a personal level..that’s a cold hard fact brother

Hmm hulk that’s an interesting take, blame it on the son for the father’s lack of character. This is more like a reflection on the poor parenting, fathering & disregard for culpability that exists in “hulk’s world of manhood”! On second thought the real man here is Cole Beasley for respecting the game enough to walk away when his heart wasn’t in it.

Well said polarbear71, the Wes Welker comparison is thrown around so easily. Last season the Chargers wasted a roster spot on Bryan Walters cause he was compared to Welker,he did show some of it during the preseason, and the Chargers cut Welker originally as an UFA. They kept Walters instead of Laurent Robinson only to cut him after he flamed out. We saw what Robinson did with the Cowboys(usually against the 3rd CB since Austin and Bryant are the 1 & 2 options). The Chargers could of used him when Malcolm Floyd was injured, I hope no teams make the same mistake of keeping a crappy receiver just cause hes fast,short, and white in hopes of finding the next Wes Welker

It’s not about the going getting tough. I don’t know why someone who make that judgment. Not everyone has the same desires even if that is play pro ball.

Some will be persuaded by money or fame. I think this young man showed courage to follow a different calling/passion.

Dang. I don’t even like the Cowboys, but y’all are rough. So maybe the dude decided there’s more to life than football? Maybe he’s decided being in a wheelchair at 45 suckin’ his dinner through a straw and wondering what his name is ain’t worth it? Maybe he sees that the NFL is positioning itself legally to not have to give a rip about this guy when he can’t function anymore? Can anybody blame him?

I think I can speak for everyone when I say… Just. Shut. Up.

Maybe being 5’8″ has him scared about safety. Maybe he has a big family issue going on right now that you have no idea about. Maybe he’s leaving for religious reasons like a lot of other players have done. Or maybe, just like anyone else in a job they’re unhappy with, he decided to leave it and move onto something more enjoyable and fulfilling to him.

But yeah, you’re probably right, he’s done with football because all young adults are quitters on everything. Now please just crawl back into your hole and stay quiet.

So his hearts not in it. Maybe his hearts into returning to school to become a surgeon. No report says anything but “for personal reasons”.
He’s young and motivated.
To call him quitter is just wrong.
