Cowboys add guards Loper, Dockery

The Dallas Cowboys have been beset by injuries on the interior offensive line in training camp. In search of improved depth, Jerry Jones’ team has brought back two familiar faces.

Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys have agreed to terms with guards Daniel Loper and Derrick Dockery. The team had also been in conversations with free agent guard Montrae Holland, but Holland will not be signed at this time.

In order to clear room on the roster, tight end John Nalbone was waived and receiver Cole Beasley will be placed on the reserve/left squad list.

Loper, 30, has bounced around the league since being the Titans’ fifth-round pick in 2005. He spent time on Dallas’ 2011 roster, but never appeared in a game.

Dockery, 32 in September, was once one of the highest paid guards in football. He made two starts for the Cowboys last season. Dockery (pictured) could wind up making starts again in 2012, if Mackenzy Bernadeau and Nate Livings don’t get healthy.
