Vikings receiver Greg Childs carted off with apparent leg injury

The man who has declared that he’ll be the steal of the draft could have his rookie season stolen from him.

Vikings receiver Greg Childs, a fourth-round pick in April, was carted off the practice field with an apparent leg injury suffered during an intra-squad scrimmage Saturday night.

Per Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com, Childs “screamed in pain” after hitting the ground following an attempt to catch a deep pass.Β  He was “awkwardly twisted” with a defensive back on the way down.

A quartet of Vikings staff members rushed to Childs, who suffered a torn patella tendon in 2010.

After the scrimmage, coach Leslie Frazier said he had no information about Childs’ injury.

Wish him the best in recovering, never like hearing about anyone getting injured, especially rookies who have an entire career in front of them.

Agh! Childs was one of the guys I was hoping to see on the field in his rookie season. Hope it’s minor.

A lot of teams passed on this guy due to injury concerns. Sadly, perhaps they were correct.

Watched him play before he messed his knee up back in 2010 I believe… dude had first round talent for sure. Ryan Mallett knew who to throw too, and it usually wasn’t Jarius Wright or Joe Adams… it was Childs.

If he’s healthy, I have no doubt he’d be the SOTD. Here’s to hoping to a speedy recovery!

That’s why it’s better to keep the mouth quiet and let the actions do the talking. Tough break, but kid should have just kept quiet. Now he looks foolish.
