polegojim- Suh and Co? You mean Kyle Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams are just drawing sooooooo much attention that teams just forget about Avril??? Avril is the Lions best pass rusher. And a top 10 pass rusher in the NFL. He deserves way more than 20 million guaranteed over 3 years.

Avril… and agent… aren’t acknowledging what everyone else sees. While we all like Cliff, he’s experiencing ‘opportunitistic success’, thanks to Suh and Co. double teams and focus.

He has the talent to deliver in that situation, so the money offered was WELL deserved, but no more than offered.

I think Avril was getting bad advice from his agent. He should have signed the $30 million three year, $20 million guaranteed offer the Lions presented to him. His tweet acknowledges a certain level of trepidation. He wouldn’t be afraid if he had signed the Lions’ offer. He can’t be afraid to play all out as that would negatively affect his upcoming contract. Yet he knows he could sustain a career-ending injury and his earnings are capped at half of what he would have been guaranteed. Bad advice from his agent. Too many agents are greedy leeches.

Must have been hard to sign a 10.6 million dollar contract for one measly season of football. Too bad he didn’t get enough money to have long term financial security. After all, he has to put food on the table.
