Injuries force Eagles to raid AFL roster

Xavier Brown AFL

The Eagles have so many injuries that it’s getting hard to just get through practice. Especially along the defensive line.

And with up to 90 players on each roster (up from 80 in 2011), there are 320 fewer candidates to join the effort.

As a result, the Eagles have had to raid the roster of the AFL’s New Orleans VooDoo in search of another defensive end.

Xavier Brown, who had 10 sacks for the full season (which may be the equivalent of 50 in the NFL version of football), has been added to the Eagles. Brown arrived in New Orleans via a trade with the Chicago Rush.

Brown played college football at L.I.U. Post (which previously was named C.W. Post), picking up 24.5 sacks in 31 starts. He played briefly for the the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Though Brown likely won’t make the cut from 90 to 53, he at least has a chance. If nothing else, facing NFL-caliber competition will make him better in the future.
