Kolb exits with injury

The Hall of Fame game could be a night that lives in infamy for Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb.

After throwing an interception on his first throw and then presiding over a three-and-out, Kolb landed on his right shoulder/arm while being brought down after throwing a pass by Saints defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis.

Kolb most likely won’t be back.   Though the specific injury isn’t known at this point, it appears that Kolb didn’t strike his head on the ground, making yet another concussion less likely.

John Skelton has entered the game in place of Kolb.

UPDATE 8:53 p.m. ET:  Stacey Dales of NFL Network reports that Kolb has a “rib contusion.”

Not to say hes faking injuries but, he would have been cut if they had enough film to see he’s a bust…but they don’t because he’s always on the sideline… move if he’s faking, the game wasnt looking good for him.

Ellis with 1st cart off of the year

  4. japmen says: Aug 5, 2012 8:53 PM

Damn, well Kolb, it was fun buddy while you totally fooled the Cards into thinking you were worth more than a backup. How in the world can Florio think these guys were 25th? Two sorry QBs later and you’re not top 5 worst?

  5. clownsfan says: Aug 5, 2012 8:53 PM

Is it just me or is Kevin Kolb ALWAYS hurt?

  6. raideralex says: Aug 5, 2012 8:53 PM

Sedrick Ellis was heard yelling “GIVE ME MY MONEY!!” after the hit.

Not sure what that’s all about.

  7. jets13 says: Aug 5, 2012 8:54 PM

well that didn’t take the saints long

    (just kidding)

  8. ilovefoolsball says: Aug 5, 2012 8:54 PM

Come on with the stupid bounty comments. I know you morons have been waiting all offseason to use your miserably uncreative “jokes”.

  9. kattykathy says: Aug 5, 2012 8:54 PM

Oh no. Now sedrick Ellis will be suspended for the season by Naepolean Goodell for injuring a QB as part of a “bounty” program.

Now Saints listen up, do not hit anyone, tackle anyone or even look mean at anyone or the power crazed , “evidence” creating tyrant will ruin your reputation by labeling you as a “bounty” participant

  10. 1075thefan says: Aug 5, 2012 8:54 PM

looks like the bounty program is still in place. What’s the price on Kolb, about tree-fitty?

    “Rib contusion?”

    …He’s done..

  12. 6ringofsteel says: Aug 5, 2012 8:56 PM

This reminds me of the rams and Kurt Warner.

I think the bounty will be paid by Larry Fitzgerald this time.

In all seriousness, anyone think the Cardinals are going to be paying close attention to who gets cut in Miami?

  15. vbe2 says: Aug 5, 2012 8:58 PM

Thus ends the Kolb era in Arizona.

Any odds on him being Vick’s backup in Philly next year?

  16. liljere24 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:02 PM

Eillis will be meeting with Goodell tomorrow

  17. samapoc says: Aug 5, 2012 9:03 PM

I can’t wait for the badly dubbed “where’s my money” video for this one!

People who asterisk the saints = suckers.

Kolb was pile driven into the ground. It is a subtle technique where you put full weight on the QB and is designed to hurt. Good chance Kolb has broken ribs or a dislocated shoulder. The answer to this is do the same thing to Breeze. That’s football. You hurt my guy I hurt your guy.

  19. kuta82 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:04 PM

Why am I not suprise? If Andy Reid let’s u go, it means u don’t worth a penny

  20. narfmoo12 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:10 PM

Kolb … because spread offense college QBs are always successful in the NFL!

  21. phillyphan72 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:12 PM

The guys just brittle that’s all that’s too it…I gave him 3 games…he might not even make it to week1

  22. sharp1128 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:19 PM

Rob Johnson version 2.0! Take it from a Bills fan, that trade will take you 10-15 years to recover!

  23. rr2000k says: Aug 5, 2012 9:22 PM

This guy is laughing all the way to the bank. He fleeced the Cards!!! Can’t believe they ponied up all of that cash for a guy who had a few good games….as a backup1

  24. cpo187 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:22 PM

Kolb hurt is the best thing for the Cardinals team. Skelton is the far superior QB anyway. Kolb was bound to get injured, and when he comes back it won’t take long to get hurt again.

  25. timb12 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:38 PM

I really hoped Kolb was going to pan out since he went to UH. But he’s starting to look like the standard “no expectations to a lot of hype to a bust” that we’ve all become familiar with.

  26. harryglyphics says: Aug 5, 2012 9:46 PM

Boy, the Saints are making the Cards look terrible!
‘Course, I said the same thing last year when the Saints played the 49’ers in the pre-season.

  27. jh500 says: Aug 5, 2012 9:55 PM

Cards got screwed. He is a backup QB, not a starter. Should have stayed in philly as a backup.

  28. bigdawg24 says: Aug 5, 2012 10:15 PM

I suppose Goodell is going to say there was a bounty against Kolb…..

  29. Tyler says: Aug 5, 2012 11:02 PM

Arizona could see what Jamarcus Russell is up to.

  30. mossstyle84 says: Aug 5, 2012 11:45 PM

I feel so bad for Larry Fitzgerald…

  31. chrisvegas says: Aug 6, 2012 12:34 AM

It suck that he keeps getting hurt because we can’t actually see him play enough to know if he is a bust or not. It was always my opinion he was nothing more then a backup QB, but that being said I am really hoping he can become a solid QB. I would like to see him be successful and Fitz def deserves it.

  32. cannonballdookie says: Aug 6, 2012 12:42 AM

oh, this never happens, he is consistent and durable…

  33. edavidberg says: Aug 6, 2012 1:00 AM

Really surprised AZ kept him at his salary. Throwing good money after bad, anyone can see after last year he is just a horrible quarterback.

  34. transam7816 says: Aug 6, 2012 2:29 AM

“I feel so bad for Larry Fitzgerald…”

It’s his fault. He lobbied for Kolb. If anyone’s to blame for trading for Kolb…it’s Fitz.

  35. scandinaviansausage1974 says: Aug 6, 2012 4:40 AM

Skelton is the obvious choice to start in Arizona. If Kolb somehow remains the starter, you know that the owner Bidwell is demanding it from HC Whisenhunt.

  36. bornaraider60 says: Aug 6, 2012 8:05 AM

    Hand Kolb a clip board!!

  37. bornaraider60 says: Aug 6, 2012 8:18 AM

Who knows John could be the next Tom Brady! Give the man a shot! Kurt was stocking shelves before he became a Hall of Famer!!

  38. brianbosworthisstonecold says: Aug 6, 2012 9:28 PM

Maybe AZ can give Ryan Leaf a call…
