Luck could see 20-to-25 snaps in preseason debut

Andrew Luck AP

When Colts quarterback Andrew Luck makes his NFL debut on Sunday in a preseason home game against the Rams, it won’t be the typical Week One, one-drive cameo.

Instead, Luck could see several drives.

“We’d like to get in 20 plays, maybe 25,” offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said Monday, in comments distributed by the team.

Regardless, the team and Luck are ready to face someone else.

“He needs to play against someone else other than himself and see different coverages and different fronts,” Arians said of Luck.  “We’re looking forward to it.”

So is everyone else.  After months of anticipation, Luck’s NFL career finally will begin on Sunday night.

I’m looking forward to Luck’s play this year. Remember Elway and Peyton didn’t have Hall of Fame-type first seasons….we all need to have low expectations for this year.

Then Cam Newton had to screw up all that ‘can’t be great in 1st year’ stuff.

I’d still bet on luck having a better career than cam newton when it’s all said and done… How many off the field incidents do you pencil in for each of them over the next decade

Luck will be alright, peyton had a horrible rookie season, Luck may exceed him, but a true colts fan have to be patient

Can’t wait to see the kid…

Obviously I’m excited, I know there will be some tough times, but it’s going to be exciting watching him play. Training camp is more fun than I have ever seen it. Pagano is a good man, he believes, and he should. There’s no hating about this statement, it’s just fun to see. After a 2-14 season, only place to go is up. I would love to see this younger generation do good. Newton, rg3, Dalton, Skelton, Ryan are the future of this league. I think it’s in good shape!

Hey pubobby…… Youre a moron. Luck better than Cam based on what? You take stiff white boy we’ll take the stud with a personality. Go Thers!

RGIII is a real player. Better talent, more popular and with a better Franchise brother.

25 plays? So he’ll be participating in six 3 and outs and one drive that ends in a turnover.

Skelton a part of the future of the league? I can see the others mentioned, but I want some do the kool aid in your batch!

You know Luck was just as good as Newton in the combine in the 40 right? And had a better vert?

“RGIII is a real player. Better talent, more popular and with a better Franchise brother.”

since when is popularity a factor? just ask vince young, or jarmarcus russel how that turned out.

this Luck kid has been a professional from day one. He hasn’t gone crazy with media and seems like the real deal. Only time will prove it, one way or another.

Luck “hasn’t gone crazy with the media” because he’s not considered to be marketable. He looks clumsy and so unsure in interviews. RG3 is confident, engaging while neing “a professional from day one” as well. The face of Adidas football because they believe in him much like Nike believed in LeBron before he played in the pros. RG3 is a sure thing, winner and going to win championships and Canton bound. Case closed.

Luck is closest to a sure thing that ever comes out…. Nicely done colts, sandbagging an entire year to cheat the system into the most unfair draft pick in history….

Right– because Peyton Manning not allowing backup QBs to get reps in practice had NOTHING to do with the Colts bombing last season. There were 35 million reasons on the sidelines wearing a polo and Dockers as to why Colts QBs (and the team) struggled last season. Everybody associated with the poor management, play and coaching are GONE. Next time, do some homework.
