The last UFL team without a coach now has a coach.

Former NFL quarterback and assistant coach Turk Schonert will replace Dennis Green, according to the Sacramento Bee.  Schonert has worked for various NFL teams; he spent one year as offensive coordinator in Buffalo, but he was fired only days before the start of the 2009 season.

Joining Schonert as the team’s player personnel director will be former Bears pro personnel director Bobby DePaul.

DePaul also will coach the linebackers.

Green spent three years with the franchise, which started out as the California Redwoods.  He has sued the team for failure to pay his wages.

The UFL will play an eight-game schedule, starting in September.
