Texans linebacker Brian Cushing got sick on Tuesday night and was hospitalized with what the team termed a “minor” illness. But it isn’t minor enough for Cushing to be out of the hospital yet.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said after today’s practice that Cushing remains in the hospital with flu-like symptoms. The good news, however, is that tests were negative and the team expects Cushing to be back on Thursday.
Kubiak said the Texans are being very cautious with Cushing but are not concerned that this is anything that could affect his long-term health. Cushing apparently has a viral infection that the Texans don’t want him to spread, either to teammates if he’s at practice or to his wife if he’s at home.
The 25-year-old Cushing started every game last year and was voted by his teammates as the Texans’ MVP.
