DA went to the pro bowl with the stinking Browns! He is probably still a much better QB than Jimmy.

How bad is Anderson really? Other than Kurt Warner, what QB has flourished in Wisenhunts offense.. Or whomever is running it in Arizona? I'm not saying Derrick Anderson is a Good QB but he had an all pro year in Cleveland and has pretty much been pretty mediocre since.. I think #2 is about right for him

As said previously, Clausen was #3 last year and never dressed on Sunday. The only reason he’s still here is that Armanti Edwards isn’t good enough to be the emergency #3 QB.

Clausen was put in a rotten situation in ’10. Everyone knew the coach was going to be canned at the end of the year, including the coach. The coach was a man who honestly believes that the forward pass is a crime punishable by death, and the offensive line was the worst in the history of the sport of football, at any level, in any era. Yes, that line was worse than the ’02 Texans line that runied David Carr’s life. Now Clausen is never going to be any good because he’s been Carr-ed.

I completely disagree. I would not blame others on a team for his failings. Not to mention the o-line from that year...didn't change much from 2010 to 2011. If you are using the O-line as an excuse there is no reason he shouldn't be flourishing or improving at this point. Bad QB play is exactly that, from a bad QB. The O-line aren't the ones with the noodle arms. They aren't the ones who can't throw the ball.

Another thing to note, John Fox was NOT canned. His contract simply ran out and not extended.

jgedgar70 you said it very well my friend. One issue I have with dubbing quarterback's as busts is because of situations such as these. As a USC fan, I despised Jimmy Clausen, but I thought he was talented and had a live arm. But, he entered a situation that was a death sentence for his career. He had absolutely no help with the exception of Steve Smith but what good is he if Clausen doesn't have a pocket to throw in. Hopefully he can find his niche somewhere else and work in as a backup and take over when the opportunity comes.

@sterilizecromartie

Actually the most consistent QB of the 2010 draft is John Skelton followed by Colt McCoy then Sam Bradford, Clausen and finally Tebow.

In other words that whole class is a bust even if Bradford does have a decent year just on the merit that Skelton and McCoy would probably outplay him on better teams since they already outplay him on horrible teams as backups with stats that are slightly below average.

zn0rseman says:

Bottom line: They are protecting Cam Newton.

It is the same move that Brad Childress made in Minnesota with Tavaris Jackson. Old T-Joke was drastically outplayed by every QB that backed him up. Tyler Thigpen, Sage Rosenfels, Gus Ferrotte, ect.

Heck, Gus Ferrotte took over for an injured TJoke and magically the Vikings had a passing game and a big winning streak that got them to the playoffs, at which point Clueless put Jackson back in at QB. What happened? TJoke went 15 of 35 (35!!!) for 164 yards, no touchdowns, a fumble lost and an interception. The Eagles played with 9 defenders in the box the entire game, just daring him to throw. Ferrotte would destroyed the Eagle swith that kind of coverage.

It wasn’t until ownership sought out Brett Favre the that whole world realized that TJoke’s failures had nothing to do with the talent around him, he was simply worthless as a QB and his coach could no longer protect him.

Now, the Panthers are jettisoning Clausen much like Childress dumped Thigpen, Rosenfels and Ferrotte. Anderson will never create a QB controversy… but Clausen could.

this may be the worst comment ever left on a PFT messageboard. And that says a LOT.

It wasn't until ownership sought out Brett Favre the that whole world realized that TJoke's failures had nothing to do with the talent around him, he was simply worthless as a QB and his coach could no longer protect him.

Now, the Panthers are jettisoning Clausen much like Childress dumped Thigpen, Rosenfels and Ferrotte. Anderson will never create a QB controversy... but Clausen could.

Okay, you got Montana and Theismann, but after that, all the QB's since.........the best ends up being Stever Beuerlein!!!!!!!!

Clausen - bust
Quinn - bust
Powlus - bust
Mirer - bust
Kent Graham - no

Maybe it is not Notre Dame's defense after all???

Clausen will never be able to overcome the 2010 season. It isn't his fault because that was such a bad situation but he has fear in his eyes now. The opposing defenses know it, the fans know it, and obviously the coaches know it too. Tough luck Clausen.
