T.O. to wear 1.0.

My quick look at the Seahawks’ roster on Monday ended up being too quick.  Of the numbers from 10 through 19 and 80 through 89, it appeared that only 84 was available.

I was wr-wr-wr-wr-mistaken.

As it turns out, No. 10 also is available.  And the number made famous by Jim Zorn will now be worn by Terrell Owens.

Of course, before any Seahawks fans plunk down some greenbacks to put a Seahawks partially green jersey on their backs with Owens’ name and number, it would be wise to wait for T.O. to make the 53-man roster.

UPDATE 11:21 a.m. ET:  For those asking, Zorn’s number isn’t retired.  The only retired numbers in Seattle are 12 (for the “12th man”), 71 (for Walter Jones), and 80 (for Steve Largent).  Several years ago, Largent allowed Hall of Famer Jerry Rice to wear No. 80.

  1. T.O will wiggle #81 from Golden Tate by the regular season…and T.O will be on the roster….if Tavaris Jackson can make the Seahawks roster for 2 years…then T.O surely can….

  2. Golden Tate needs to show some respect and give his jersey number to the 2nd best wide receiver ever to play the game of football. If you want to be great you must respect the greats.

  3. Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, K.J. Wright, Doug Baldwin, Russell Okung….why shell out big bucks for the jersey of an aging player who may not even make the roster when there are quite a few talented youngsters who may be with the team for the next decade?

  4. It’s not 1-0, it’s really I-0. As in, “I owe so much money, I’m forced to still play pro football at 38…”

Are you serious? T.O isn’t even a lock to make the team and even if he does it might be for just 1 year. So Tate should just give it up?

  6. You keep suggesting Owens may not make the roster, but you’ve provided zero legitimate arguments as to why not. Your hate and jealousy are not legitimate reasons.
    Get. Over. It.

Not a lock to make the team? You have been listening to Florio too much. You really think they invited the circus to town just for a guy who they don’t think can make the team? Gimme a break. And yes Golden Tate should just give up his number out of respect for an all time great.

  8. It’s 8:22 in the morning in the mighty PNW…TO hasn’t even set foot in his first team meeting yet, and already it’s all eyes on him for a reason only indirectly related to football. Anybody else sense a pattern?

  9. I love how Pete always comPete’s. He says no to hardknocks because he brings in T.O. and all the media that comes with him.
“We don’t need a TV show to follow us, we’re our own show.”
Excited to see Terrell can/will bring. Waiting for the blogs after practice…

You are either T.O’s number 1 homer fan or Drew Rosenhaus. Quit talking nonsense

  11. Golden Tate should tell T.O. to kiss his ass. I wouldn’t give up my number to a guy just passing through either.
