Getty ImagesJammal Brown is still listed as the Redskins’ starting right tackle. But he hasn’t practiced yet during training camp with a hip problem, and it’s unclear precisely when he will.
For now, the team isn’t offering an estimated return date. Instead, all coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday is that Brown has “a chance” to return, via Mark Maske of the Washington Post.
So how big of a chance? A likelihood? A probability? A possibility? A Jim-Carrey-in-Dumb-and-Dumber “chance”?
For now, we don’t know. For now, the Redskins are happy that Brown’s backup has stepped up.
“The good thing that has happened is Tyler Polumbushas done a good job,” Shanahan said.
They may need him to continue to do a good job into the regular season.

We’ll be fine. Note to those who hate my team – We’re going to the playoffs and RG3 is winning Rookie of the Year. Deal with it brother.
Seems to me that most in the local media at least are trying to make something out of nothing…I say this because for the most part last year Jamaal and Corey played very little of last season. The guys that stepped in to those spots played pretty damn well, Hurt and Polumbus, also when Trent was suspended the last 4 games Willie Smith even stepped in at LT and played very well…add to that they drafted several more lineman in the draft plus those on the roster last year…I don’t see the big deal on whether Jamaal or Corey play or not. The O-line will be fine and so will RGIII.
this line cld be worse than last year. i dont understand why the shanahans refuse to adress the need for o-line help. Its a good thing Griffin is mobile
sadskinsfan89 – it is because the league wilted to the whims of the Giants owner and stole $18mm in cap from the Redskins that they would have used for some O Line help. But, hendawg21 is right – this is overblown by the media, there are some guys that can play in their place. It won’t be the hogs but it will be ok.
I assume the 89 in your name is your date of birth. Be assured my young friend that the glory days are returning and you will have your own tales to tell your children soon.

did you watch any of last year when Brown and lichtensteiger got hurt? Their replacements actually played better than they did…also did you follow the draft? They drafted several lineman and signed some via the undrafted rookies….go to Redskins.com pull up roster and look at the number of lineman they have, and they weren’t that bad last year just remember the most sacked QB last year was Alex Smith of the 49ers and they were 13-3 and the worst rushing offense was the NYG and they won the superbowl! A good portion of the losses suffered by the Skins last year was not the O-line’s fault but shoddy play by Grossman and missed field goals by Gano, that’s why they drafted a 2 QB’s and brought in Rackers for competition with Gano…they addressed the two main areas which hurt them the most last year.
sadskinsfan89:
Maybe you missed the draft my man, they took 3 offensive lineman this year.
In fact since Shanahan took over I believe they’ve drafted more offensive lineman than any other team in the league.
The Skins have drafted more Olinemen since Shanahan took over than any team but the Steelers. Brown wont be missed, as Polumbus is just as good as he is.
sadskinsfan89:
Just because you don’t know who the lineman are, doesn’t mean they can’t play. All the lineman added to the team by Shanny, are players that he felt fit our scheme. If he’s confident in their skills and potential, you should be too.
Lot’s of excellent responses to sadskinsfan89 uninformed post so I don’t need to regurgitate what’s already said.
Considering all the holes and bad drafting that Shanahan was forced to fix due to mismanagement by Vinny Cerrato he has done I good job in attempting to correct the O-line.
The only way the 4skins get in the playoffs is if the rest of the NFC East get raptured…
