Julio Jones takes charge in Atlanta

Falcons Training Camp Football AP

The Atlanta Falcons got their preseason off to a solid start with a touchdown drive against the Ravens’ first-team defense.

And Julio Jones made it happen, almost single-handedly.

Four of quarterback Matt Ryan’s fives passes (all completions) went to Jones, who generated 58 yards and a seven-yard score on an underthrown fade route.  Jones reached around his defender and hauled in the ball.

The touchdown capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive.

Yeah, it’s the preseason.  But so far Julio Jones is delivering — in a big way — on his huge expectations for 2012.

Anytime the Falcons score or get a 1st down, you can be sure it didn’t involve a QB sneak.

Umm Pierre garçon had 3 receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown

The touchdown also capped an 80 yard TD drive.

M Wallace might not play until week 10 Andre Johnson cant stay off the trainers table AJ Greens not top 5 imo so in a renewed effort to pass more for the falcons Julio Jones will be easily a top 5 wr in my book .

@ kazkal If that’s your top 5 I’m kind of wishing you were in my league because two of those don’t belong and arguably 3 if you take into account that whole somebody needs to throw it to Fitz thing.

Typical matt ryan! stellar preseason, solid regular season, choke-artist in the playoffs.

As much as it pains me to say this I can see the Falcons having a pretty solid year. The law of averages say they win the NFC South, since no one’s won it back to back, ever! Hopefully that does happen for the first time this season but doubtful.

Matt Ryan, hugely overrated but love the Jones/White combo and you have to figure Mike Nolan is going to get some sort of improvement on the defensive side of the ball.

    Biggest Questions for the Falcons:
1.) Can they improve on defense?
2.) Can Turner hold up at 30 considering the carries they give him?
3.) Can they get solid play out of their offensive line?

    I say:
    1.) yes, to improved defense
2.) no, Turner isn’t holding up he has issues last season and now he is a year older.
3.) no, this is just not a difference making group I figured they would be more active bolstering their line.

In the end just improving on defense is all they really need to have a decent season. I can see them doing pretty good and that’s saying a lot considering they play in the competitive NFC South.

too bad they will not win the south and Ryan will find a way to blow it when it counts

Cowboys Fans be honest with me….

Julio Jones is the player Dez Bryant is SUPPOSE to be.

Dez Bryant is a BEAST, FREAK-whatever you want to call him

But he needs to stay away from trouble, go out onto the field and show the world just how good he really is

Matt Ryan is an amazing preseason QB….elite

Julio is top 10…. prolly top 5 by the end of the season….wish we had him!
Hes perfect for Ryan too, cuz ryan can just chuck the ball in his vicinity and Julio has the skills to come down with it….especially when the game is on the line and Ryan starts choking…
