As the Eagles and Steelers prepared to launch the preseason in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, a moment of silence was dedicated to Garrett Reid, the son of Eagles coach Andy Reid.

Garrett Reid died Sunday in his dorm room at training camp.  He was 29.

Andy Reid rejoined the team Wednesday, a day after Garrett Reid’s funeral.

Reid is coaching the Eagles tonight.  We continue to extend our thoughts and prayers to the entire Eagles family as they try to process Sunday’s events.

So heartbreaking. Between now-Miami coach Philbin and Reid, thats two troublesome but still good kids passing waaay too early. Harsh but powerful reminder that life and family makes something like football so inconsequential.

In other news hundreds of other junkies without famous fathers died today. Where’s the coverage on those?
