Another lost night for Kevin Kolb, and his 0.0 rating

Kevin Kolb AP

Well, at least Kevin Kolb didn’t get hurt tonight.

The Cardinals quarterback watched John Skelton start tonight’s game, but came in for the second quarter, and worked with a group of mostly starting players (other than that Larry Fitzgerald guy).

He completed one pass, a 21-yarder to DeMarco Sampson.

For the preseason, Kolb’s now 2-of-9 passing for 25 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception. That makes his passer rating a clean 0.0.

The good news is, Skelton’s not exactly killing it either.

But with every passing game, Kolb’s looking less and less like a guy you can win with, much less invest in.

Someone send the Cardinals the game tape of last nights Eagles-Steelers game, they may want to look at Nick Foles… he’s cheap, only 2 first rounders and Fitz…

That’s as good as Aaron Rodgers.

The Eagles absolutely hosed the Cards. That’s going to end up having been a regime killing move.

We’ll trade you Kirk Cousins for two #1′s and Larry Fitzgerald brother.

    8. Kolb

Who owns the best QB rating on the Cards through two games?

    Richard Bartel.

I’d love to see him get a shot with the first team offense.

  8. bennyb82 says: Aug 10, 2012 11:19 PM

I want to see that list of the highest paid athletes again because it is such an amazing player list + kolb

  9. t16rich says: Aug 10, 2012 11:20 PM

So this seals the deal right? Between all the QB trades Andy has ripped people off with, the Kolb deal has to be the last that NFL GM’s fall for. Eagles have generated high draft picks and a solid player by trading Feeley, McNabb and Kolb. Come on people, the Eagles QB’s aint worth what you are trading for them. And I say that as a guy who has an Eagles Kolb jersey hanging in my closet.

  10. jacksaysfu says: Aug 10, 2012 11:22 PM

In other news Philadelphia is loving DRC (even with the green mowhawk) & Mychael Kendricks looked impressive & Vinny Curry looked dominant last night . But don’t worry Arizona we have this guy named Kafka that you’ll love , just give us a 3rd

  11. rickrock6661982 says: Aug 10, 2012 11:25 PM

I would call him Scott Mitchell 2.0 but even Mitchell was better than Kolb

  15. k0mbucha says: Aug 10, 2012 11:36 PM

    WoW….just WoW!!

Andy Reid is a genius in the way he was able to manage Kolb and squeeze high draft picks and players from the Cards for Kolb whos net worth is equivalent to a ham sandwich.

  16. austinjdd says: Aug 10, 2012 11:36 PM

I’m sure the front office is really regretting not releasing him before he got the roster bonus during the offseason…

  17. rajbais says: Aug 10, 2012 11:40 PM

I told everyone that the Cardinals should have cut him before his roster bonus!!!

I don’t wish unemployment on anyone, but rewards should be based on success; not to prevent mistake admission!!!

  18. scubasteve12 says: Aug 10, 2012 11:49 PM

Sad thats this is all the eagles have to brag about. also sad they have to keep trading away players to get the better ones from other teams.

  22. mrlynch33 says: Aug 10, 2012 11:56 PM

Hey Fitzgerald!!! Still think lobbying for Kolb last year AND lobbying for Floyd this year was smart? You’re a great player but you ain’t no GM, let the Front Office do it’s job.

    Exactly….

The sad thing is they have no one to blame because they chased after Peyton Manning and by the time manning chose Denver Kolb` bonus was due.

  24. trollhammer20 says: Aug 10, 2012 11:58 PM

I think of all the players in the NFL today, I am the most jealous of Kevin Kolb.

This is because I can only dream of being paid a $7 million bonus to totally and completely fail at my job.

I don’t know anyone who thought kolb would be a franchise quarterback except for the cardinals. Can’t believe fitz signed long term with them considering his success and legacy are in the hands of their quarterback situation

  31. scytherius says: Aug 11, 2012 12:21 AM

  32. cliffordc05 says: Aug 11, 2012 12:23 AM

I remember when many of the local fans and pundits were skewering Carroll and Schneider for not pursuing Kolb. Where are they now?

Many times the best moves you make and the best trades you make are the ones you don’t make. One player is not going to turn around a franchise but one bad mover that restricts your cap space, costs you a starting cornerback and a second round draft choice, can cripple the team.

As a hawks fan i remember when we got matt h from GB and be lost his job to trent dilfer. then dilfer got hurt and matt had to play. he was awfull until the last 5 games then it clicked and 21playoff gsmes followed and super bowl 40. they need to play kolb and stick with it this year. of course i hope flynn gets it game one.

  39. brenenostler says: Aug 11, 2012 1:22 AM

In a division where San Francisco currently dominates, Seattle is getting better (and will probably finish around .500), and St. Louis can only get better, we may have found our dark horse for the #1 pick.

The good news for Barkley is Arizona isn’t far from Cali.

  41. omniscient48 says: Aug 11, 2012 1:29 AM

Both Bartel and that rookie from San Diego State, Lindley, look better than Kolb and Skelton, but Whiz doesn’t have the balls to start either of them.

  42. folkcrusader says: Aug 11, 2012 1:36 AM

Yeah, Aaron Rodgers has the same exact statistics as Kolb. Both mean exactly the same thing, nothing.

  43. grandpoopah says: Aug 11, 2012 1:53 AM

  48. sunsation3413 says: Aug 11, 2012 2:37 AM

The rookie Ryan Lindley looks better than any of them. That Kolb has to compete for the job speaks volumes. Cant see him as a Card past this year. Maybe he’ll get hit next week and knocked out for the year. Game over.

  49. undraftedstar says: Aug 11, 2012 2:40 AM

Cardinals GM is having a Migraine.. Wisenhut might be gone by mid season . kolb played couple good games on the eagles, why is it a surprise to anyone that he sucks .Somebody said this, but I could see the cardinals panicking and trade fitz or trade away their draft picks for a ryan mallet or kirk cousins.

    ————————————————

You’re delusional if you think Smith is going out perform Bradford in a similar offense to what he ran when he got ROY. 3 step, 5 step drops. very few of those 7 stop drops and a new o-line coach to boot.

There’s a reason why Bradford is called a “franchise qb” and smith is just “a game manager”

  51. defscottyb says: Aug 11, 2012 4:37 AM

When this guy was in Philly he sucked… Why did the Cardinals give this loser so much money? Just stupid.

  52. TheWizard says: Aug 11, 2012 4:48 AM

I’m not Kolb fan by any stretch, but if it’s like the first game against the Saints, he didn’t have time to even look upfield before the swarm was on him.

No quarterback will have much success under those conditions.

  53. geetee52 says: Aug 11, 2012 5:30 AM

    I’m confused.

I see a lot of posts in praise of Andy Reid…but…

Wasn’t it about 7 months ago there was a mob calling for his firing?

  54. offthelows says: Aug 11, 2012 5:41 AM

Given I have a rooting interest in another team in the division, I hope that’s the case, but c’mon, 9 attempts is hardly enough to make judgement. From what I heard, he was dealing with poor blocking and pressure most of his time on the field.

  55. mykelane says: Aug 11, 2012 6:17 AM

I think he’s still concussed from his Eagles days.

Confused? They’re praising him for the trade itself and were calling for him to be fired because of his game-day preparation and/or coaching ability.

  56. dannythebisforbeast says: Aug 11, 2012 6:27 AM

Kolb needs a great O line to have any success. He had that in Philly in his 2 games of which Arizona based a trade and a lucrative contract. Dummies. Actually personally thought Kolb would be OK. now it’s a faint hope

  57. youaredelusional says: Aug 11, 2012 6:34 AM

    ———————————

Smith will outperform Bradford because of offensive scheme continuity, better blocking, and more weapons. Bradford may have more talent but he can’t perform when STL can’t keep him upright even with a new oline coach. I’ll take the “game manager” in this situation everytime.

Sam Bradford is 10x better than Alex Smith. All Smith did, aside from that great pass against the Saints, was manage the offense & not lose games. He had every chance to beat the Giants but didn’t. Bradford was hampered with injuries all year & still put up respectable numbers. I will guarantee you right now that Bradford will significantly outplay Smith. You & the rest if your fair weather fans were ready to run him out of town before last year & now he’s the best QB in the NFC West? C’mon buddy. He’s not that good; he’s the 49ers’ version of Mark Sanchez; he can manage a game well but will never carry his team.

  75. jacksaysfu says: Aug 11, 2012 5:53 PM

If you guy’s hate K.K. so much Us Eagles will gladly take Kolb back , but with that ridiculous salary we’re gonna need you to include Patrick Peterson & a 2nd round pick …

In all seriousness we love Kolb here in Philly .The Eagles ended up with a starting CB (DRC) , a starting strong side LB (Mychael Kendricks) and an impressive 2nd round DE rookie (Vinny Curry) who was an absolute beast in that Steelers game . Although it looks like the Eagles absolutely fleeced the Cards right now , I think if Arizona gets Kolb some protection he may still be a solid QB . I’ve seen a lot of him at Houston & he was decent in Philly . The guy just needs a solid line or he gets them happy feet

You realize they may have done the exact same thing by getting Flynn right? I’m not saying Flynn will be bad but they took a big chance on an unproven, virtually untested, career back up. It might work out for them but lets not anoint them geniuses for not making one move, when they made a similar move a few seasons later.
