Bob Griese thinks Dolphins are in good hands at QB

Ryan Tannehill AP

Ryan Tannehill might be third on the Dolphins quarterback depth chart at the moment, but he got an endorsement from the franchise’s first Hall of Famer at the position.

Bob Griese, who saw Tannehill play in college as a broadcaster for ABC, said he sees great things for the Dolphins rookie.

I know the future is taken care of because I’ve seen Ryan Tannehill, and I think he’s the real deal,” Griese told Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I like Ryan Tannehill because of his athletic ability and his skill and his future. It’s just a matter of when for Ryan. He’s going to make it. I’ve watched him.”

Griese recalled seeing Tannehill at Texas A&M when he was a red-shirt freshman wide receiver.

“I said, ‘You don’t want to bust yourself up playing wide receiver,’” Griese recalled. “He went to the quarterback meetings. I said, ‘There you go, you’re not a wide receiver, you’re a quarterback.’”

While Tannehill’s promotion seems inevitable, Griese also expressed confidence in veteran place-holders David Garrard and Matt Moore, saying: “I don’t think his team has a quarterback problem at all.”

OK, Bob. If you say so.

Griese is just doing his part to spread some optimism around. Compare that to Jim Brown if you have a problem with it…

yes i am a dolphins fan but I’m also a realist. We do not have the worst qb situation like some people make it out to be. Moore had the 12 best qb rating last year. Garrard is a serviceable starter when healthy and we have an unknown rookie first rounder who looks good( So far).
I can think of a few teams that have worst qb situations than us. Redskins, Jets, Seahawks, Browns, Colts just to name a few. Yes the Colts and Redskins have two really good looking prospects but they re unknowns at this point and if one of them gets hurt think at the qb who comes in behind them.. Grossman?? Drew Stanton?? So yes as of now we don’t have a top notch starter but neither do any of those other teams.

After all, we know a HOF QB knows nothing compared to a moronic sports/blog writer about talent at the QB level in the nfl.

Ok Darin, whatever you say. LOL!!

“OK, Bob. If you say so.”

Because Internet slappy Darin Gantt knows more about quarterbacks than Bob Griese.

If Garrard is even back to 2010 form, he is a fine “place-holder.” I think it would be hard to argue that.

cool, you caught Bob in a lucid moment. 10 minutes later he was pouring maple syrup into a toaster oven.

Why does Bob Griese have so much influence over Texas A&M’s football program? He can tell a freshman wide receiver to start going to the quarterback meetings?

@oraclepz1, I some what agree with you but the only thing is, three of the five teams you state knows who gonna be their starting QB heading into the season, skins, colts and browns. The hawks are intending to turn backups and a rookie into a starter and they probably wont name won until the last pre-season game. Jets, well let’s just say chezbow are gonna be sharing snaps throughout the season. The phins, I’ll say moore probably be the starter week one and I wont rule out Tanehill taking over at some point during the season.

    In Bob Griese we trust.

Miami will be a surprise team this year.

Philbin’s offense made a mediocre QB like Matt Flynn look like a hall of famer. Miami has QB’s on the roster that are capable of making a run at a wildcard birth this year. There are a-lot of other things that must fall into place for that happen but it is possible.

Jeff D You took the post right out from under my fingertips.

Also take in the fact that Moore was coming in from a lock-out, and didnt get first team reps during the shortened training camp. I imagine he would be better with a full off-season in the system and reps with the first team.

If Garrard is better then Moore then I think we will be competitive to say the least.

Just keep hating PFT bloggers…OK lol
