Can’t wait to see him get planted by Seymour or Hali. Then we’ll talk about IF he still has it. So far it’s too early to tell.

And I can't wait til the wolfe pack (wolfe, dumervil and miller) plant palmer and cassell in the ground. Wait a minute .................. they may not need to because raiders and chiefs suck and the broncos would be up by four touchdowns so no need for our defense to play hard.

Peyton Manning posts a 36.3 QB rating and calls it 'decent'.

Glad to see he hasn't lost his ability to downplay his poorer performances AS WELL AS his arm strength!

:D

Congratulations Mr. Elway, you just bought yourself 18 million dollars worth of noodle armed, glass-fragile, snake oil.

People commenting on Manning’s footwork and jitteriness are ignorant – this has been a Manning trademark for the past decade, he was taught as far back as college to always keep his feet moving so as to minimize the risk of injury of being hit from a planted position but same time be able to setup and step into a throw in a compact motion.

It has NOTHING to do with jitteriness or looking scared in the pocket – even when Manning has good protection he ALWAYS keeps his feet moving and has pocket mobility second-to-none.

what!!! someone posts with a little common sense. thank you....didn't think it was possible on this site. for all the football fans on here i'm always astounded on how little they actually understand.

For those who doesn't know, Peyton Manning hardly ever threw deep ball, his receivers made big plays. He always beat his opponents down the middle and he puts the ball wear his receivers should be. Let's do a recap from his pre-season debut as a broncos.
First pass should have been caught by Tamme, he put it right in the gut. Second pass, tipped and receiver made a play, that's what they're suppose to do, keep your eyes on the ball. Pass to decker, manning put the ball where either its gonna be caught or go out of bounds, not int. Second pass to decker, perfect, on the spot. Pass to DT was right where the ball needed to be and if that was Marvin harrison, easy TD, Thomas will improve in time. Now last pass to stokley was a bit behind but still catchable instead you get a tip and int instead of a TD. Oh and those who said manning only threw to the left, obviously you were blind and didn't resize the pass to DT was to the right. You can't have a guy figured out after 7 pass attempts coming back from 4 neck surgeries

i love how so many people can tell how great or terrible Peyton will be this year after one series.

People making comments about he can't throw the deep ball, only throws to half the field, already has interception, give me a break. One series, limited playbook for both offense and defense.

1122world says: Aug 10, 2012 9:11 AM

Colts let one of the best quarter backs of all time go because they thought Luck was the next Manning.

Idiot owner.

Players like Manning usually come round once in a franchises history.
They’re rare and to think that luck is the next Manning you have to be an egomaniacal dellusional goat.

For all they’re saying about the kid and u wish him luck but he will never come close to Manning.
----------------------------------------------

Lets see, peyton is on the last few years of his career. maybe 3 more years, after major injury and you think Colts should've passed up on Luck, a guy who most scouts graded higher than any other qb coming out of college since Manning...you think they should've kept manning and paid him 3 to 4 times more what Luck is being paid while not having the money to upgrade any other position. Keep Manning and hope for the best in the next couple years and ignore the future of the franchise for the next 10-12 years that Luck will be around.

People like you are going to hide behind these comments in two years when you realize the Colts franchise is setting themselves up for another run at future 10+ season wins and possible Superbowl contenders. All to keep Peyton around few more years on a mediocre team at best.

I'm not even a Colts fan. Being a fan of another team who has searched for a franchise qb for over a decade, i don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for comments like yours above. I'm sure the same comments were made by fans when Montana moved to KC, when Rodgers took over in GB.

Let's be honest and stop being silly, Manning's debut as a Bronco is exactly what we should have expected, nothing more and nothing less. Anything more or less would have been newsworthy as those results would have been unexpected. The guy should get better with more time and practice, but we probably won't see Manning in his top form from the past until the middle of the season because that is how long it will take for him and his new team to properly mesh without having to think about things.

Bronco fans,

As someone who has watched just about every ball Peyton has thrown in games, I can say, don't worry about the fluttering ball. He never did throw a consistent tight spiral. His balls have always fluttered. His arm strength looked a little off, but not much. Arm strength is way down the list on the things that have made him a great QB.

He will return to being a top 5 QB, and if your defense holds up, expect a very good year. He has played without a great offensive line since for about 3-4 years, so just average will be good enough.

Super Bowls
Eli 2-0
Peyton 1-1

Thats all that need be said.

I am a fan of neither team and watched that game. I do think there's a bit of concern as some of his throws had a bit of a wobble to them... It could be a year off, or it could be age, or both... who knows. It could be the injury too. He did look pretty good though, throwing some perfect passes.

I am not sure I'd completely credit manning for the interception. He might have been behind the receiver, but it still hit him in the hands. Receivers have to catch those, and the Denver receivers had their fair share of drops for Tebow last year too.

We all know how Peyton loves to go deep, so how many deep balls did he throw?

I will come back later to see how you stick handle around the question.

I'll answer it. We'll talk after game 3 when he has had a chance to throw more that 7 passes and play more than one series.

Look...the man is coming back from 19 months of no game action. Of course he isn't going to look like the Manning that torches defenses on a regular basis. He admitted that he had some nerves going into his first game action after not playing for so long. And he admits that his arm strenght isn't where he wants it to be, and that he is still rehabbing regularly.
With all that said, every one of his passes looked better than Tebow's passes from quarters 1-3. And to those of you who think he looked "jittery" or that he "was hopping around"...have any of you watched this guy play before? He always looks like that; feet moving endlessly, ball of nervous energy. Just go back and watch any highlights of him from the 2000's, and you'll see what I mean.
I was impressed with his progressions, especially how the o-line gave him enough time to go through 5(!) reads before finding Decker on the left sideline for a 1st down. Yeah, the ball he threw hung awhile, and if the coverage was better, it would have been picked, but guess what? It wasn't! It was completed!
He threw a perfect fade route to the back pylon on the right side, of which some tool stated Manning can't "throw to his right because his neck is SUPER MESSED UP". The timing wasn't there, but it will get fixed, and that will be 6 points.
And on 3rd and 17, he threw a dart to Decker for 19 yards to convert. If this was last year, it would hve been a draw play called since the coaching staff had no confidence that #15 could complete that pass.
All in all, it is the first week of preseason, and Peyton Manning looked like he had been away from football for awhile. Let's see how he adjusts, gets better timing with his pass catchers, and comes out gunning at home against the Seahawks.
GO BRONCOS!!!

denial is quite popular for bronco fans after peytons first pre season game. Say what you will peyton lovers….he didnt look as good as advertised. he cant throw to 50%of the field and he has no zip on his throws and seems very jittery in the pocket. i thought he looked average at best.

So you did not watch the game. I watched it, every play and he looked very Manning like, after going 19 months without throwing a pass. A little rusty, but ball out quickly and many accurate throws.

You guys are reading WAY too much in how the ball looks in the air. Manning has NEVER had a good spiral!! Watch any slo-mo replay. They always look like wounded ducks. Bottom line is he has just been tremendously accurate and can outhink opponents. His ball flight looks no differently than any other year. Sure, it would be great to see a Warren Moon type spiral, but not part of Peyton's game.

Is he as good as he was earlier in his career? Of course not, but he wasnt bad. He's still got his mind and enough of his arm to win games. What else do you want at this point?

This team had Tebow as thier starter less than a year ago. And now they have Peyton?! Be thankful that you will get wins from your offense and not just your D and the last 2 minutes against bad teams. The Pats game showed why Manning was such a great pickup.
