We can now report that the report that receiver Dwayne Bowe will report to the Chiefs is not true.

We can report this because a source with knowledge of the situation says that the report is “not true.”

KMBC News in Kansas City had reported on Friday that Bowe “reached an agreement” with the Chiefs.

The only agreement that can be reached between the Chiefs and Bowe at this point is a one-year deal. To lure Bowe to town before Week One, at which time he’d start to lose game checks, the Chiefs could offer to promise not to use the franchise tag against in 2013.

Thus, while we’re told he will indeed show up by Week One in order to get the full amount of his $9.5 million base salary, he isn’t showing up just yet.
