Titans kicker Rob Bironas said he wants to spend his future in Tennessee.

He’s just ready for the Titans to write a check to allow him to do that.

Bironas told Dan Ariks of TitansInsider he’d like to see the team talk to him about a new deal before the start of his final season under contract. The 34-year-old kicker is entering the last year of his four-year, $12 million deal, but said he won’t negotiate during the season.

“This is the last year of my contract.” said Bironas, “Obviously I started my career here, and I want to end it here. I hope the Titans get something together before the season starts, so I’m not trying out for another 31 teams.”

Bironas only missed three field goal attempts last year, and was an impressive 6-of-7 from 50 yards or longer last year, and that miss was a 68-yard desperation shot at the end of a half.

He’s missed just five field goals the last two seasons.

“It all comes down to my agent doing his job, and the Titans wanting to keep me.” Bironas said, “They know I want to stay. They know I’ve got one more year on my deal, and they know we have to get something done before the season, because I don’t want to focus on a contract or negotiations or whatever during the season. I want to concentrate on football.”

Of course, the Titans might not be motivated to do a new deal, or they could just franchise him (as happened with five other kickers this offseason). Of those, Matt Prater, Connor Barth and Josh Scobee got long-term deals, while Mike Nugent and Phil Dawson did not.

Then again, the Titans just let long-time long snapper Ken Amato walk as a free agent, so they might not be in the mood to pay veteran specialists.
