ReutersNo. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Luck completed his first preseason throw to running back Donald Brown on a shovel pass. Brown turned on the jets and reached pay dirt for a 63-yard touchdown, doing about 61 yards of the damage after the catch.
We’ll have a full rundown of the Colts and Rams’ first-team groupings from Sunday’s preseason game in a bit. But Luck’s pro debut couldn’t have gone much better.
Luck figures to play one or two more possessions before the Colts rest their new franchise quarterback in favor of backup Drew Stanton.

Yeah, so? Matt Ryan’s first REAL NFL pass was a 63 yd TD. If he does it in a game that counts, then I’ll be impressed.
*Screen pass
A LUCKy dump off to the halfback. Who cares??
Peyton who? Hah, I kid. But I’m wearing my Luck jersey and hoping for the best. Go Indy!
The most Glorified 2 yard pass ever.
Andrew Siciliano promptly crowned him the greatest to ever play too. I believe Andrew had an orgasm.
Hulk, thats better than your RGIII brother!
If it was peyton he would be considered back n fully healthy, rg3 he would be getting fitted for his HOF jacket tmrw, give me a break, misery loves company
Great run by brown.
no reason to gush over Luck.
All he does is throw touchdowns.
Guys it was against the Rams… wait for the real games.
(/s)
Oh God, can’t be happy for the rookie. Not for a millisecond.
Of course it doesn’t mean sh*t. Just a humorous note. Jeez…
and if it bounced off the back’s hands and got picked you guys would be saying Luck sucks and the Colts should’ve picked RG3

Something else about Matt Ryan, he has the same number of playoff wins as Andrew Luck. True story.
Title should read
Luck beneficiary of worst defensed 2 yard shovel pass in NFL history
So what if it was a screen pass…Mannings first TD was a ball caught by harrison 10 yards out and he took it the other 38 for a TD
Saying Andrew Luck threw a 63 yard pass, is a bit much, isn’t it?
He threw a 2 yard dump that Donald Brown made something out of.
In related news Robert Griffin just got another commercial.
Lucky!
He got lucky.

Against the worst team in football history.
Also, Drew Stantons first NFL Pass was a TD.
While I think there is little doubt the kid is going to be good, and I wish him well … I think the headline would be more accurate if you added “LOL” somewhere in it.
Canton here he comes!!!
Matt Ryan’s first playoff victory was…oh never mind…
Andrew got Luck-y.
RGIII will be the superior QB with a MUCH better career brother.
He’s as advertised.
Colt fans, how lucky can you get.
I guess that was another “lucky” drive/td pass. Kid looks damn good for a rookie. No hesitation at all in his decision making
The first TD was all downfield blocking–that second one though was all Luck. However, don’t crown the kid until he does it in a game that counts.
Horrible rams defense
It should be titled “Donald browns first reception is a 63 yard touchdown”, but news is news I guess
Nothing against Luck, best of… well, you know… to him in the future, but I can’t help but feel like this says a lot more about Donald Brown. If he can become an actual offensive threat, Luck and the Colts are going to have a much more enjoyable season.
Peyton’s first pass was a TD as well. Does anyone know how many yards?
Josh Freeman is soooooo jealous right now.
2 yard? you must really know your football, last time I checked stats will say 63 yards
Where are the redskin fans saying he is going to be the best ever? As I recall RGIII’s touchdown pass was a short one two.

So what you’re saying is we can look forward to Luck devolving into an over-hyped noodle arm with happy feet who can’t win a playoff game?
I would have given the headline to the halfback for eluding tacklers for a 63 yd TD.
All you people just like to hate the good players.
All the haters are Redskins fans…sorry, he is this good. Deal with it!
Rg3 td pass was a screen pass turned td by the runner, so give the play call credit and theowner rb and Luck will have a good year, not here to say ROY but good Luck to him and RG3
Excels in meaningless games….sound familiar?
Saints 31…Dolts 17….enough said…
Well…that glorified 2 yard pass was probably one of the least impressive thing Luck did today….
Andrew luck is insanely good! They will forget Payton Manning all to fast! He has been pin point accurate through his first several drives!
They will be better on offense than people think, due to the play of Luck alone!
He is fun to watch throw such a perfect ball
Hall of Fame for sure
Who cares……
The headline sounds like he threw 63 yards down field for a TD..hahaha…Well thank God for D.Browns talent to run wild..No big deal…its a meaningless game..don’t get over excited Colts fans..
It is pretty amazing that both Manning’s and Luck’s 1st professional passes were TD’s.
Hall of Fame, baby! *double pistol*

Paulitik74. Check your facts. Ryan first touch down was 11 yards to Jenkins .. Then Jenkins did the rest for a 62 yard touchdown…
Yes, it was a screen pass, much like RG3′s TD pass in his debut game. I think the “omen factor” — if you’re into that sort of thing — is what made this play interesting.
The impressive part for Luck came after this first TD pass. Ball after ball pushed downfield with zip and accuracy and preceded by heady decision-making. Different body types and different jersey numbers, but Luck plays the game very much like his predecessor in Indy.
If you don’t watch much college football or haven’t seen Luck play often, let me say this: the kid is the real deal. This isn’t just some media hype job. He truly is the best QB prospect to enter the league since John Elway.
HOF bound

As a Lions fan, I remember that pass well. I also remember our team didn’t win a game all year. How impressive of Matty Ice!
And then he made a bunch of other good throws and led two more touchdown drives. Where are all of the people who said he couldn’t hold a candle to RGIII?
It didn’t even make it past the line of scrimmage… any reader on this board could have made that throw… what a joke…
Well he drove it on first team defense his third drive i believe. And scored. And then just drove it on the 2nd team defense. To bad rg3 couldnt do anything untill second team defense came on field. Which was also a over glorified screen pass. Ill take Luck this week.
Look, the kid is obviously gonna be good and I wish the best for him, but let’s be honest here, most 2 year-olds coulda thrown that screen pass.
It’s the two other drives he lead for scores that are more impressive.
The defense is not on watch, it’s the offense. Schotty & Sam are going into this season with A LOT to prove. The first half was not a good case to quiet their critics.
Not bad, not bad, his balls has a good spin on it and he’s very accurate. The only negative thing I have against him is when he hands the ball off, he spins around. He’ll improve and you colts fans have a QB locked up for the next 10+ years.
he showed poise, accuracy, and arm strength on that pass. 💩
So shall we also take away yards from Marino, Tom Brady, Peyton, Brees, or any other NFL QB? Just go and change how the NFL does the stats? C’mon people, it says pass is a 63 yard touchdown not a 63 pass is a touchdown.
I’m not impressed. RGIII play less and threw bullets down the field against a better defense. Hey, you Colt fans have your little festival over Captain dumpoff though. RGIII will have the great career brother. Case closed.
I’ll give him kudos. I’m happy for the kid. Besides, now that Peyton’s gone, The rivalry just isn’t there anymore. I hope the Colts can come back to being a contender. They seem like a standup club, and I’m a die hard Pats fan.
lets give both RGIII and Luck credit here. After one pre-season game, they both have as many play-off wins as Matt Ryan.
Both Luck and RG3 are our next generation after Peyton Manning and tom Brady. They’re both gonna be great for their franchise and I could see both winning a superbowl in the future.
