Jets tight end Dustin Keller has never been to a Pro Bowl. But he says that’s going to change.

I definitely feel that I’m a Pro Bowl tight end,” Keller told the New York Daily News. “And I feel that will happen this year.”

Keller’s numbers have steadily improved during his four NFL seasons, and last year he had career highs in catches (65), yards (815), yards per catch (12.5) and touchdowns (five). This year he plans to top all that.

“I’m in my prime right now,” Keller said. “This is going to be my best year yet. . . . I will be a huge part of this offense.”

But a big question is whether Keller will have an opportunity to be a huge part of the offense: Keller will have trouble improving his number if the Jets are throwing the ball less this season, which the coaching staff has said is the plan.

Entering the final year of his contract, Keller has said he hopes the Jets will give him a new deal. A trip to the Pro Bowl would ensure that Keller gets paid well by someone next year.
