"His ability to run is just another reason why he’s more dangerous than Alex."

Statements like this is why it's hard for other fans to take 9er fans seriously and make true 9er fans cringe.

That run that Kappy sprang was a designed play. Roman saw the DE crash the lane leaving a gaping hole and called for the Keeper.

That's one.

The second is Smith is just as dangerous with his feet that Kappy is. It's one of the reasons fans were fed up with Smith who seemed to Run at the drop of a hat rather than taking shots downfield.

How many NFL games has Kappy run in a game winning/tying Score? Smith has a number of them under his belt. Stop trying to work Alex Smith into your hater diatribe cause it's old and pathetically worn out. Kappy should thanks the Football Gods that he landed on a team that has a solid Head Coach a Line that is starting to come into its own and consistency at the OC position. Cause Alex Smith wouldn't be as hated today if he had had any of that in his first 6 seasons.

Kaepernick, in the right situation will be a star. He has an incredible work ethic.
-------------------------
If all you needed was work ethic, James Brown and his cape would be in the Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.

As for "Baby Drew Brees," tell Big Mouth Donte that Daddy Drew Brees is going for 450 and 3 TDs on him in November.

To the 49er fans that think Scott Tolzien is our future, who are we going to cut? Obviously not Smith or Kap. Josh Johnson is the only other option, but does anyone think we signed him just to be a camp body at QB? He’s Harbaugh’s guy from SD. I’m not saying I don’t want Tolzien on the team, but I just don’t see it happening.

So then you believe JJ was brought in on his salary to be a #3? Good luck with that. Not saying he is gonna get cut for sure, but I certainly don't see him sticking at that pay rate unless he takes over the #2 gig and Harbaugh has passed on plenty of "his" guys. It's the nature of the business. He was brought in to see if he could beat out the other guys and if not.. adios

A year or so ago, there was a show about Belicheck and the NE season in 2009 (?) - the year the Ravens beat them in the POs. It showed Belicheck and Brady preparing for the game watching game tape and commenting how much they admired Ed Reed.

So, was this tampering too? Come on guys, get a grip. You're moving from Drama Queen to Drama Empress.

Regardless of what people think, Kaepernick is not a run-first QB. Look at college stats, and you'll see there's only been 1 person in history who has thrown for 10,000 yards and rushed for 4,000. So it was at Nevada and not Alabama. I guess Jerry Rice couldn't play because he was a small-schoool guy. We're still talking every QB who's ever played at any level. Kaepernick still has room to grow, but he's going to be a star.

I told my little brother that Kaepernick was more than just a second round Quarterback, he just needs coaching. Any team with a top flight QB coach can groom CK into a formidable starting QB. The kid has major potential, especially learning to switch plays at the line, Colin is smart too, I'm sure anything he is taught will stick. Many teams didn't see what Kaepernick had to offer and passed on him. S.F. was the smart team, and they only had to burn a second. A first rounder for a second round pick, not bad.

"You’re seeing these guys and it’s hard to defend some of that stuff. When you have the ability to throw, as well as run, it makes it tough.”

No kidding, Rex?

I'm sure Kaepernick will be glad to know with all the dual threat QBs who have made a legitimate mark on the game over the years that you could compare him to, you saw him coming out in the draft as the next...Brad Smith.

If you have a reasonably capabable QB who can read defenses and hit the throws first, and is a bonafide rushing threat on top of that, you don't have to call it the Wildcat. You can just call it "the offense".

“You’re seeing these guys and it’s hard to defend some of that stuff. When you have the ability to throw, as well as run, it makes it tough.”

No kidding, Rex?

I’m sure Kaepernick will be glad to know with all the dual threat QBs who have made a legitimate mark on the game over the years that you could compare him to, you saw him coming out in the draft as the next…Brad Smith.

If you have a reasonably capabable QB who can read defenses and hit the throws first, and is a bonafide rushing threat on top of that, you don’t have to call it the Wildcat. You can just call it “the offense”.

49ers traded up 9 spots to land him. It's possible that the Jets were thinking of trading up high into the 2nd round, but the 49ers made their move first.

49ers wouldn't have traded up 9 spots if they thought he would still be there for them at the 13th pick in the 2nd round, so somebody must have had their sights on him. If not the Jets, then who?
