The Steelers actually have 6 TE on their current camp roster. You need to understand that a TE is used at FB in Todd Haley’s Steeler offense. A traditional FB is mostly a lead blocker and the position is a dying breed in the NFL. Haley wants a guy that can be equal parts lead blocker, big receiving target out of the backfield, and quick enough to get down field to throw blocks. TE’s fit the mold perfectly.

If you’re going to waste a roster spot on a 260 lb. lead blocker, why not have him be 6-6 and run a 4.6 forty time?

Justin Peelle is a good one. I miss him in Atlanta. Not sure how much he has left in the tank. I hope he does well for the Steelers.
