APBoisterous tight end Martellus Bennett might not have seemed like a Tom Coughlin kind of guy.
But the Giants coach said he’s warming up to Bennett, and doesn’t mind all the personality.
That would be Bennett, the guy who started the butt-kicking talk with the Cowboys. Bennett, the guy who referred to himself earlier in camp as a black unicorn. Bennett, who at varying times has compared himself to Ghandi, Atlas, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell and Kim Kardashian.
Yeah, that’s a Coughlin guy. Obviously.
“I like them to have their own personality,” Coughlin said, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. “I just like them to be able to structure it within the concept of trying to keep the focus on the game and on the field and on the team.
“I don’t like robots. I like to kid around with them once in a while, too, but I like it when it’s acceptable and when it isn’t acceptable.”
Apparently, at that point, Coughlin did a version of “The Robot” dance. There has to be video of that, and it must be glorious.
Earlier in his career, Coughlin was known for his bark, and for being early to be prompt, and a general strictness of character.
Winning a couple of Super Bowls apparently has a way of loosening a man up.
Even to the point of adopting a stray black unicorn.

“I like my guys to have their own personality.”
Well he could’ve fooled me.
His play hasn’t been so beautiful, but he has a great personality.
Coughlin doesn’t like robots because they eat old people’s medicine.
Wait’ll “Marty B” posts his next YouTube Rap Wannabe video. The guy needs to stay focus to really get a feel for what his play is like.
He won’t like the personality as much when Marty jogs into the endzone, Eli puts one right on his hands, and Marty B drops it and complains that the quarterback could’ve made a better throw.
