ReutersThough the Jets will have their second-best receiver available on Saturday night for their annual preseason tussle with the Giants, they won’t have their best receiver.
Santonio Holmes will miss his second straight preseason game with a rib injury sustained when cornerback/No. 2 receiver Antonio Cromartie hit Holmes in the midsection during an intrasquad scrimmage.
“He was out there in individual [drills] a little bit,” coach Rex Ryan said Monday, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “But you’ve got to be able to protect yourself.”
The absence of Holmes gives other receivers a chance to develop. As long as the quarterbacks have enough time to throw them the ball.

Not a big deal really. Rest now and be ready for Week 1 against Buffalo
Cromartie caught a TD at practice today. I’m sure he’ll be calling himself the best receiver on the team now. Who needs Santonio, LOL!!
Now, by “game” you surely mean “overhyped television show,” right?
