In Buffalo, there’s no quarterback controversy when it comes to who will start. As to the question of the No. 2 man on the depth chart, the issue is still up in the air.

And with the team believed to be taking a “winner gets a Water Pik, loser gets fired” approach to the competition, it’s important that each guy get a fair shot.

Along those lines, the Bills plan to ensure that the two candidates -- Tyler Thigpen and Vince Young -- get equal reps in the Week Two preseason game against the Vikings.

"[It] did not happen last week,” Bills coach Chan Gailey told reporters Thursday, via James Walker of ESPN.com. “Tyler got 19 and Vince got 30. We would like to stay at 20 and 20 if we can. With [Ryan Fitzpatrick] getting 20, you like to think a game is 60-something plays. Tyler may end up with a few more this week.”

If Young gets the job, the Vikings could provide a landing spot for Thigpen. They acquired him in the seventh round of the 2007 draft, but he was snatched on waivers by the Chiefs as the Vikings tried to sneak him through to the practice squad. Last year, the Vikings were pursuing Thigpen in free agency, but they eventually signed Donovan McNabb.

Meanwhile, the Bills new blue Nike jersey with a partially-white collar makes Thigpen look like Steve Grogan.
