Chargers defensive lineman Garrett Brown is suspended without pay for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances, the NFL announced today.
Brown is eligible to continue playing in the preseason, but he’ll have to miss four games to start the regular season. If he makes the Chargers’ 53-man roster, he’ll be eligible to become active again on October 1.
The Chiefs signed Brown as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota in 2010. He has never played in a regular-season game.
There’s no word on which banned substance Brown tested positive for.
