1: The team doesn’t negotiate during the season. Once the first kick off of the first regular season game is in the air, the window is closed until next year.

2: They want to see if Schaub can stay healthy during a whole season.

No surprise on the second one. Schaub has been injured a lot during his time here and the management needs to SEE if he can stay healthy for the big run of the post season.

You can’t be considered “elite” if you can’t finish an entire campaign.

Good signing for Duane.
Smart thinking on waiting on Schaub.

Now he can break Steeler linebacker faces for many years to come. Houston still has like 8 more starters with expiring contracts but should be able to offset that with their 10+ draft picks in the next couple of drafts. They’re definitely building things the right way down in Houston.
