Texans quarterback Matt Schaub doesn’t have a new contract, but one of the guys responsible for helping Schaub stay healthy enough to get a new contract has gotten a new contract.

Left tackle Duane Brown has agreed to terms on a new deal, according to Mark Berman of FOX 26 in Houston.

Brown had been due to earn $2.08 million in 2012, the final year of his contract.

The fifth-year pro has started every game of his Texans career.

Congrats. 2.08 was a bargain. Glad they dumped some other salaries to pay some of the guys that deserve it.

If you smell what the Rock is cooking!!!

I wonder what his incentives are for dirty hits.

This is a great move. He only allowed 2.5 sacks last year and was going to be bid up if he was allowed to hit free agency. Dislike this comment if you are a fan of other AFC contenders because you hate how solid this move was.

The AFC South may have the best (Texans) & worst (Jags) team in the AFC & maybe the entire NFL.

This is a move the Texans needed to make. Next up, they need to re-sign Barwin and Schaub.

Brown’s new deal starts in 2013 and runs through 2018. He makes $2.08 million this season. He signed a 6-year $53.4 million extension. $22.08 guaranteed. $8.9 million average.

    What a steal!

Who is Duane Brown? The Man who broke James Harrison’s Orbital Bone with a block that’s who. Texan’s have always had 99 problems, but Left Tackle ain’t one!
