Jerome Simpson is hurdling again

Christian Ponder, Jairus Byrd AP

Maybe it’s in honor of the Olympics.  Or maybe the guy, given what we saw last year, just likes to do it.

Either way, early in the broadcast of one of various games via NFL.com’s Preseason Live package, Vikings receiver Jerome Simpson took a quick slant pass from quarterback Christian Ponder and sprinted down the field, straight at Bills safety Jairus Byrd.

And as Simpson approached Byrd, Simpson jumped.  And Byrd lunged forward.  And Simpson cleared Byrd, landed, and kept running for a 34-yard gain.

Simpson will miss the first three games of the regular season, due to a suspension arising from last year’s delivery of a package full of marijuana to his Cincinnati residence.

In his final game with the Bengals, at Houston in the 2011 playoffs, Simpson pulled off a similar hurdle.  Against the Cardinals during the regular season, it was a hurdle and a flip.

The Vikings finished the drive with a short touchdown pass from Ponder to fullback Jerome Felton.

That’s the same way he hurdles over the Feds when he’s running with one of those “special” packages he gets delivered to his home.

I’m telling you now… Christian Ponder is the real deal! I got to watch him a bunch at FSU and he is a winner. Very accurate on the run, not a strong arm, but he is pinpoint with his accuracy. He’s also a good leader, person and very smart.

He’s got weapons and a great running game. They might not win alot of games, but the Vikings are gonna score some points this season.

It really shows a difference between the back ups and starters….you take out jared allen, kevin williams, chris cook, antoine winfield..etc and they go down the field…though they kept all their starters playing

Totally !!!! This team is sneaky good!
We just need the other Wideouts to step up! Ponder looks like he has Really Developed this year! His drives were precise, throws we’re perfect! Love what I am seeing from him!
If our Secondary can improve (Carr sucks by the way)
This team will surprise alot of teams!

Simpson better be careful, because one of those hurdles will result in him being catapaulted 30 feet in the air.
