Patriots running back Stevan Ridley left practice early on Thursday with a leg injury, the details of which have not been disclosed.

The Boston Herald calls it a knee injury and says that it could open the door to Shane Vereen or Danny Woodhead to move ahead of Ridley as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart. The Herald also notes that undrafted rookie Brandon Bolden is fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster and may get more opportunities with Ridley out.

The Boston Globe, however, says Ridley suffered a hamstring injury.

Ridley’s status for Monday night’s preseason game against the Eagles isn’t known.
