Leinart gets stitches, will be ready for Week One

Making his return to Arizona on Friday night, Raiders quarterback Matt Leinart had injury added to insult.

Booed when he entered the fray, Leinart eventually left on a cart with a cut on his right index finger.  (Leinart throws with his left hand.)

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, X-rays were negative and Leinart received stitches to close the wound.

The source says Leinart is expected to available for Week One against the Chargers.  Which is good news because Terrelle Pryor continues to look rough in the preseason.

Leinart completed five of eight passes for 66 yards.  Nearly a third of the total (26 yards) came on an underthrown wobbler that rookie Juron Criner made a smooth adjustment to catch.

Pryor completed two of three passes in three drives that yielded not a single first down.

USC QB’s never seem to work out in the NFL. Lienart, Sanchez, and Palmer never lived up to the hype.

Left on a cart with a cut to his finger? Seriously?

Wait so he got a cut on his finger and needed to be carted off? Reminds me of The Office when Michael was limping after Pam slapped him.

This is a dangerous injury for Leinart. That was on his main clipboard holding hand which could lead to stability issues and increases the risk of drops or misplacements. I hope he recovers quickly!

Palmer didn’t pan out? Did you see him play before all his injuries? Top 5 QB.

Palmer was pretty good, until Kimo von LongName took a shot at his knee. He was never the same after that.

Leinart had a good game and was moving the ball. It wasnt until he was hit in the back after a play that got him injured.

The Raiders need to have a QB comp. for Carson stinks, some of it due to Ford and God awful DHB. I’d trade Bey for any Pick just to rid the team of this roster waste.

He was carted off because of a traumatic blow to the head on a ridiculous hit that was penalized will likely yield a fine, if not a suspension…if the giant lineman makes the roster.

So no, Lienart was not carted off due to a finger injury, and he’s actually looked solid throughout this preseason, despite having no blocking or running game.

I’d like to see Pryor or Lienart play with the starters a little in the next two games, in order to make an accurate comparison for once….probably won’t happen without an injury.
