Ryan Williams makes most of his first opportunity since 2011 injury

Ryan Williams AP

Last year in August, Cardinals running back Ryan Williams suffered a torn patellar tendon, which knocked him out for the entire season.

This year, he’s back.  And on Friday night, the second-round pick from Virginia Tech made his 2012 debut in a game (even though, you know, it wasn’t really a game).

Still, it looked like a game.  And Williams looks like he’s got game, generating 25 yards on five carries (if anyone needs a calculator to figure out that’s an average of six yards per carry, I feel sorry for you).

Williams also scored a touchdown.  And he’ll undoubtedly get plenty of chances to show what he can do in real games, especially with Beanie Wells still dealing with a lingering knee problem.

    25 divided by 5 is 5, not 6, counselor.

Maybe I’ll feel sorry for you after I get done laughing…..

ummm mike i don’t know where you attended school but I know my Massachusetts education taught me 5 goes into 25 exactly 5 times and that would give him a five yards per carry he would need 30 yards on 5 carries for 6 ypc………. just saying…………

Do you feel sorry for yourself?

I feel sorry for the writer of this article that thinks 25 is 5 times 6.

It’s funny we noticed the math, and didn’t comment on Ryan Williams.

Wow Mike, back to first grade for you, LOL. Or you may want to go the Billy Madison route…….

Guys, it was an attempt at self-depreciating humor.

“@ProFootballTalk The joke I planted in the Ryan Williams story is a great litmus test as to whether folks have a sense of humor, or any sense at all.”

    Nice try at a cover-up

I guess you certainly need a calculator. 25/5 is 5 not 6. Start feeling sorry for yourself.

    Facepalm.

I hope you guys know that he was joking. LOL at all of you who didn’t get it

  18. dantana10 says: Aug 18, 2012 9:42 AM

Amazing how many people in this country can’t get sarcasm, or take a joke.

  19. getadealdonealready says: Aug 18, 2012 9:55 AM

I think people can take sarcasm when they SEE it, however sarcasm doesn’t always translate in writing as the cues to pick up on it are typically non-verbal. So, ha, ha I guess I get your not very funny joke, stick to reporting the “facts”

  20. thankheavenfornumberseven says: Aug 18, 2012 10:03 AM

I clicked on this to see if anyone was dumb enough to not get the bit. Congratulations everyone on being able to do simple math and having no sense of humor.

  21. jmet11 says: Aug 18, 2012 10:08 AM

Immediately laughed at the math joke, however, I was really sad once I started reading the comments and realizing no one else got the joke… Come on people.

  22. rajbais says: Aug 18, 2012 10:09 AM

    25/5 = 5!!!

    I used no calculator!!

  23. ihatepancakes says: Aug 18, 2012 10:35 AM

As my 4 year old son would say, what a dope.

  24. tharoostah says: Aug 18, 2012 12:19 PM

I’m really hoping that he actually did mess up his math. I’d rather read someone who is bad at math than terrible at making jokes.

  25. briman141 says: Aug 18, 2012 1:21 PM

Everyone needs to stop being so damned literal. It was a joke made at his own expense. Just like when people call themselves fat for laughs, he was making fun of personal math skills for a chuckle. Lighten up folks…..move along……nothing to see here.

  26. trevor123698 says: Aug 18, 2012 1:48 PM

Im here only to ridicule your math but thats been done

  27. ghostshock says: Aug 18, 2012 2:05 PM

On a real note……Williams looked good last night…glad to have him back and can’t wait to see him in regular season games….GO CARD’S!!!!

  29. brasho says: Aug 19, 2012 7:22 AM

For those that didn’t get the joke, I feel sorry for those around you.
