APCowboys owner Jerry Jones is not optimistic about receiver Miles Austin returning soon from a hamstring injury.
Jones said after Saturday night’s preseason game that he expects to see some of the players who missed that game to return for the third preseason game. But not Austin.
“He’s not one of the ones I’m thinking will be back,” Jones said, via DallasCowboys.com. “I wouldn’t discount it, but he’s not one of the ones that I have coming back.”
That probably means Austin will miss the entire preseason: Starters are usually shelved for the final preseason game, so Austin missing the third preseason game would likely mean the Cowboys will just have to hope he can be at full speed for the September 5 opener against the Giants. Austin missed the entire preseason last year, too.
Hamstring injuries have been a consistent problem for Austin, who missed six games last year.

He’ll be fine, no reason to rush him into a preseason game.
Austin is having a lot of injury problems, not something I’d expect from a WR who could’ve used his time behind TO in the lineup to study his methods.
The excuse just keep piling in Dallas…the Cowboys are an embarrassment to the State of Texas and that’s the bottom line because Stone Cold said so.
The guy is a china doll !
If this is another injury laden year for him hopefully they cut him. This is ridiculous.
Then sign another WR jerry
Overrated and not dependable.
Fantasy draft strategy adjusted accordingly
Oh god everyone hold the phone, stone cold said so, maybe he should become an analyst or even better, God
Fame got to his head, not stretching out those legs.
Good news for his locker room teammates. They say Austin busts out some mighty foul wind. Worse than being down wind from pepper spray I hear!
Plaxico Burres is looking for work…
its not his choice to be injured.. i had a scholorship to tx to play wr and hurt my hamstring.. never been the same and lost it… hope he is getting good treatment, and dont rush him out there.. we need him more later in the seasin than early.. people need to stop acting like football is so easy and injuries are planned.. probably comjng from people that are over weight and sitting on the couch
Glad I traded him off my FF team..
Smh watch Miles is gonna have a monster season, can’t believe everyone wants to throw him under the bus smh
Waive Him!
Seems like the Cowboys have a high number of players to routinely deal with nagging injuries, and it has been like this for years. Maybe it’s something the training staff is (or isn’t) doing.
Remember when some crazy talkin heads we’re anointing him as a Top 5 WR after one decent season.
If this guy wasn’t a cowboy no one would give him a second thought. Seriously overrated
No miles no Jason
Who is Romo going to under throw the ball to opening night in 17 days 7 hrs and 26 minutes?
Just get healthy Miles we need you at full speed!
Why do i keep forgetting Jerry is not the HC?
Cowboys will at best be 3rd in their division.
It’s nice to see the medical staff letting us know what’s up

Or, they’re being overly cautious with injuries that can linger while it’s still the preseason… Last offseason they changed trainers to one of the best in the league, and the “problem” is still there. Some players (Austin) are just injury prone. There have been thoughts that no matter what Austin does, his body type won’t let him get completely over the hamstring issues.
I can see it now…Dallas Dynamic Duo…Chad ” I head-butt my wife” teaming with Dez “I smack my momma”. If there was just some way to get T.O. back in big D…Ha!
Go for plaxico, he’s not signed yet, right? He could provide some insurance if Austin struggles like we all know is going to happen. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail!
Chad Johnson needs a job… Hmmmm….
Hey Chico,
Austin must be made of glass. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is his last year in Big D,since he cant stay on the field.
He will be fine. Id rather rest him now and hv him for later. Hope coach jjones gets plaxico. That would be a good investment.
“…Plaxico Burres is looking for work…”
And with his firearm skills, Texas is the place for him!
