The Cowboys are starting to run out of people to catch Tony Romo’s passes.
Miles Austin will be out a while longer with his hamstring injury, Jason Witten is in a holding pattern after lacerating his spleen and now Dez Bryant will be headed to the MRI machine. Nick Eatman of the team’s website reports that Bryant left Monday’s joint practice with the Chargers after it looked like he slipped on the grass coming out of a break. He immediately limped off the field with the trainers and didn’t return to the session.
Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com said that Bryant answered in the affirmative when asked if he was fine while making his way off the practice field. We imagine that the Cowboys will be waiting for the results of the MRI before making any such proclamations. Bryant had previously dealt with a hamstring injury this summer.
If that wasn’t enough fun for one day, the Cowboys also lost two other receivers to injuries on Monday. Andre Holmes left practice with a back injury and Donovan Kemp also hurt his knee. Per Watkins, both of them will also be getting MRIs to evaluate the extent of their injuries.
All of the injuries at receiver have left the Cowboys with a skeleton crew at the position. If Bryant’s injury is at all serious, it may be time for the Cowboys to polish off that list of available wideouts.
