An MRI on Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant’s knee showed no structural damage, but it’s unclear whether he’ll play again in the preseason.

A source told either Todd Archer or Calvin Watkins (or maybe both) of ESPNDallas.com that Bryant was diagnosed with a case of patella tendinitis, and it was unclear whether he’d play again in the preseason.

Bryant limped off the field Monday after stumbling in one-on-one drills, and went straight into the locker room. As he left the locker room, he was asked if he was OK, and replied: “Yeah.”

Bryant has also missed time with a tight hamstring, but played in the first preseason game.

“Dez has been outstanding,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Bryant’s work this preseason. “He’s been outstanding all through the offseason.

“Really came back and committed to being in the best shape possible. He’s practiced really well, he’s matured in a lot of ways as a receiver. He’s a more reliable guy for the quarterbacks. He’s always had the ability to make plays, as you know but when you combine that with the ability to be a consistent guy who can win on a consistent basis, and the quarterbacks have a trust level in him, he becomes a complete player at that position. He’s growing and works hard at it.”

Also Monday, backup receivers Donovan Kemp (knee) and Andre Holmes (back stiffness) left practice to get MRIs. They’re already without Miles Austin (hamstring) and backup Saalim Hakim (broken finger).

That’s got them down to seven healthy receivers, and doesn’t even count the absence of tight end Jason Witten (spleen).

At this point, quarterback Tony Romo might want to pull a Tom Brady and just take the preseason off.
