Since when can you negotiate jail time? “we sentence you to 90 days in jail starting in July” “nah July is no good for me, I’ll let you know when it doesn’t inconvenience me”

Since there are a myriad of rhymes and reasons and criminal statutes that may cause a player to spend some time in jail…short of a felony, the NFL should try to use its best judgment on case-be-case basis.

a lot of teams stayed away from this kid in the draft because of the court case, Virginia was seeking 1 year or deportation (ellis is Jamaican). But still 45 days for assault is tough by NFL standards. I’ve read he’s also making an impact on that already stocked Dline for the jets. good for him.
