How’s this for irony from the interview with Howard Stern:

“* Sapp cannot fathom putting a hit on a player that ends his career. “You don’t take turkey off a man’s table, Howard.” He cited the Lawrence Taylor-Joe Theismann hit that ended Theismann’s career, when it was Taylor who was the first who screamed for Redskins medical staff to treat Theismann. “You don’t ever want that feeling on your resume.” He said he saw three players in high school that were hurt so bad they never played football again and the memory of each shakes him to this day.”

Chad Clifton says hello, Warren. As Mike Sherman said when he interrupted your post-game interview, “That was chicken [expletive], and you know it!”

Best part about that draft was Jets fans chanting “Sapp Sapp” and then Rich Kotite – the greatest coach in NFL history – takes Kyle Brady with no need at tight end.
Not sure who was more dumbfounded, Jets fans or Belichick, who had a clueless look on his face and promptly took the 49rers deal because he had absolutely no backup plan in the event Kyle Brady wasn’t available.

Interesting story. Peter King has similarly reported an anecdote about how the entire Browns 2.0 organization was set on drafting Richard Seymour in 2001 but Butch Davis overruled everyone and picked Gerard Warren instead.

The only thing weirder than Belichick saying that is Warren Sapp boasting about it.

But if you are given a choice between Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis even up, who do you take?

Seems like the Browns/Ravens made the right choice.
