Brian Urlacher won’t talk about alternative therapy for knee

If Brian Urlacher went to Germany for an alternative treatment for his balky knee, he doesn’t think it’s any of your business.

That was apparent by his reply to a report in the Chicago Tribune this morning, that said he went to see “that famous doctor everybody goes to,” for a non-invasive procedure.

Asked Wednesday if he went to Germany, Urlacher replied, via the Chicago Sun-Times: “I didn’t think there were any quotes from me, or anybody else for that matter?

“I didn’t think so. It doesn’t matter what I did or haven’t done. This is where we’re at now, so that’s all that matters.”

When pressed on whether he went to Germany, he replied: “I went to Europe last year. We played in London. So I was definitely in Europe last year.”

Bears coach Lovie Smith was no more forthcoming.

“I know right now, Brian Urlacher is here, he’s getting healthy every day and I don’t see what else we need to talk about,” Smith said.

The Regenokine treatment of Dr. Peter Wehling hasn’t been approved for use in this country, but has been used by athletes such as Kobe Bryant and Alex Rodriguez.

And if the Bears are a little tight about it, it points to a legitimate level of concern about Urlacher’s status.

They’re a different team without him, and that reality might make any team a little grouchy.
